Jeg har det fint nok, tak. :)
Hilarious, a conversation between a Dutchman and a Russian in Danish. With a good knowledge of Danish, you can read Norwegian and possibly Swedish (although they have a different vocabulary or spelling, you can still make out their meaning). I used to be fluent in the language, but it's gotten disused and thus I can no longer claim this to be fluent.
:D
I'm corn-fused
Nothing to break your cob over, Richard
HAHAHAHA.... Oh how corny of you!
That's not that bad...try THIS for mind-bending...
A little background first....while in college I worked in the campus mail room and one of my duties was delivering faculty mail.
One day I walked into an office to deliver mail. There were 4 professors in there, having a discussion...in Latin, German, Greek (modern) and Hebrew. I figured it had to be some deep, serious philosophical debate or something. After listening for a few minutes, I figured it out (just enough Latin/Romance languages to puzzle my way through)...they were discussing what they wanted to do for lunch.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA..... Lettuce all eat now!
I never really mastered any additional languages...but I know enough 'bad' words in many...in fact I remember getting my mouth washed out when I was little after repeating something I heard my great-grand mother say...and thus I learned my first Gaelic insults.
Yea, me too... I asked my mom about the F word. Her words to me were, "I'm going to tell you what that means but when we get home I'm going to wash your mouth out with soap" and she did!
Copy paste? How 2013. Highlight and right click!
Highlight then Ctrl+C to copy after Ctrl+V to paste , much easier especially in this forum :)
Actually funny to read that, a friend of mine lives in Finland and her husband coems from Texas. THey been married for a fair few years now and he has lived there all the time.. and still not properly learn finnish :) A few words here and there but that's all
The first expression I learned in Gaelic/Irish was Scriu tu... go figure
Carola, I am not surprised really. The languages that closest resembles Finnish appears to be Hungarian and Basque... completely different from any other language spoken in the area.
I only speak English and really poor Spanish.
I was surprised listening to Norwegian as sung by Kaizers Orchestra -- it almost sounded French to me, though I think someone told me they speak a more distinct regional dialect of Norwegian.
All the Germanic family is a lot of fun to study, particularly when you keep Old English in mind and see the linguistic processes unfold before your eyes. Dutch seems to be sort of halfway between English and German? A lot of my favourite metal bands are Dutch, but somehow they all sing in English =(
Though Hungarian vocabulary has mutated into something resembling Russian read backwards, due to all the Turkish and Slavic influence over the years. I can figure out the gist of an Estonian text, but not Hungarian... Neither are Volga Finn languages processable, although when you open a grammar manual, it's the same, just all the letters replaced =)
PS Formatting is hard to keep track of on mobile, so that's why I edit posts, to fix extra quote tags etc=)
It's not much, but I owe you a render for all the fabulous freebies. Sorry it's late. I've been away.
This pair might have been a one-hit wonder in the pop world ;)
Long haired men and stonewashed jeans and ridiculously serious expressions are amongst my memories of the eighties.
You don't like this one?

Oh, terrific image! Now I"m sorry I missed the eighties
...guess I have to post something here and waste page space because of the auto save feature. been away for several hours and the comment I began to write earlier but decided not to post still shows in the editing window. They really need a "Cancel Post" button.
..and to fix the Spell checker so it is always on
