I am thinking of making a game?

I am thinking of making a game.  I have downloaded and am installing Unity.  I see there is a free version of Unity.

What else do I need to make a game for my iPad and App Store?

You will need to verify if this is still true, but previously, Apple only allowed you to build for iOS devices and sell them on the iOS App Store if you used a Mac desktop computer for building and had a paid Apple Developer account.  If this is still true and is a barrier for you, you may want to search the web for how to make games for iOS without a Mac.

For learning general Unity skills, I suggest you go through the free, online-courses at https://learn.unity.com/. ; This content used to require a paid unity license, but all of the content has been made free for a couple years now.  Some of the beginner courses are VERY well done.

Some other good Unity video content:

Please post, if you move forward with your project. Will be interesting to see, how fast you catch to work with Unity.

I've tryed to create a game too last years, i've downloaded Unity, downloade free content from Unity store, and followed tutorials for create a sort of exploration game whut driving section. Whit great fantasy i've called it "The little teft auto", and the story is about a tug who stole cars, following the his boss orders and resolving little puzzle for stole them.

After three months of works, i left it all. Is really difficult create a game all alone. Try someone who help you.

Help you with what? Go to the Unity site and make use of their learning platform. That's why it is there.

This is kind of a late response, but my area of specialization is AI, so I wrote games and simulations in Unity as part of my PhD research.  You can write things by yourself, but it takes time.  The first thing you need to do is plan everything out.  After you've done all the planning, I'd suggest using both the Youtube tutorials and the free templates that come with Unity.  WIth those, they walk you through how to do things step by step.

If you're writing a game by yourself, just remember that it will take a good bit longer than if you have help, so try to be patient and make sure you keep working on it.  If you're willing to put in a year or two of time, you can come up with something great.  Also, remember that you're still learning.  Back things up regularly so you don't lose your work.  That way, you don't have to be afraid of making mistakes.

If you have a Game Development course available at school, I'd suggest taking it so that you have someone to help you get started.  You can definitely learn on your own, but it's easier if you have someone to help that already knows what they're doing.  You also might meet people that want to work with you, and that would make your life easier.

Good luck, and have fun with it.  smiley
