Diabetes runs rampant in my family.  I didn't covert over to D2 until my mid 50's.  I've done allot to control it but I also mess up all the time too.  I've found sugar replacements that are safe and taste good and flours for baking that work ALMOST as well as traditional All Purpose.  The tricky part is, being single, I don't always like to cook for just one so getting take out or delivery can be challenging.

Take your meds DAILY, do not skip EVER.  Keep stress levels down and exercise.  Even just a walk around the block daily is better than nothing.  I wish you well Ron.

Years ago I was diagnosed as prediabetic, so I cut sugar and carbs out of my diet and that worked. But you have to really educate yourself about sweetener, there are lots of food products out there that claim to be "sugar free" but have maltodextrin or dextrose that's just as bad. You need low glycemic sweeteners like stevia, eriythritol, monkfruit, allulose. Type 2 diabetes is all about diet.
