4.8 loaded, did the two steps to reload the database and reset metadata. No Default folder.
Updating to 4.8 let the Inside the Asylum tutorial complete. I'll check the beach one when the Inside finishes rendering.
I'm having the same problem as solosam90
Please explain your problem more fully, and we will try to help.
I had the same problem when I first started as well on three or four of the tutorials. I just quit trying. They would get to a certain point and would just freeze. Nothing would be clickable after a certain point. Also downloaded with the daz installer (cause I didn't know there was any other way at that point I had been here two days lol.). Just mentioning it so you know these two aren't the only ones. I have seen it mentioned a couple of other times as well. I don't need the tutorials at this point but I do think somthing may be broken. I have 4.8 installed if that helps.
I tried DAZ Studio 4.9, did not like it (it could not find any of my installed content), and then went back to DAZ Studio 4.8 I had to re-install the "DAZ Studio Tutorials" manually. Neither Install Manager nor WinZip could install all of the files from the *.zip archives. There is a rediculously long directory (folder) named
"DAZ Studio_4.5;4.x Public Build;4.x Private Build" and another one named
"DAZ Studio_4.5;4.x Public Build;4.x Publishing Build;4.x Private Build".
WinZip said that "F:\DAZ Studio 4\Studio\My Library\DAZ Studio_4.5;4.x Public Build;4.x Publishing Build;4.x Private Build" and some of the directories (folders) under that were "too long" to install to. Install Manager said nothing about it, but it could not install these files, and there was nothing about it in the log.
I unzipped the archives to a root directory, then copied the required files to their respective directories.
Be sure to get the following files from Install Manager (they are not available on the web pages):
IM00018731-20_SciFiWarriorLessonforDAZStudio48.zip
IM00018732-20_InsideAsylumLessonforDAZStudio48.zip
IM00018735-20_DayBeachLessonforDAZStudio48.zip
IM00018736-20_SlayingDragonLessonforDAZStudio45.zip
Also be sure to install the *.exe files from the Product Library webpages FIRST before extracting the *.zip archives from Install Manager. They may pave the way to creating some of these directories. The Auto-Fit tutorials (4 of them) go into that funky directory, so you may as well get those while you are out.
NOTE: "Inside the Asylum" ONLY works on the City Limits workspace. DAZ should look into updating these tutorials to insure that they either change to this workspace, or to work with any workspace that the user might have set up.
I tried "Slaying the Dragon" on the Hollywood Blvd. workspace. The tutorial froze after saying "frame the dagger". I tried it on the City Limits workspace, but DAZ Studio crashed every time I got to doing the morphs for the tunic.
I never did get this to work. I'll look at the tutorials on youtube and go from there. My Vista computer failed last month. I"m currently reinstalling everything on a Win 10 x64 computer. No video card, but the Intel HD chip seems to work okay for other things like playing Everquest. Downloading 4.9 gigs of software at 50-150 kilobytes per second is kinda slow. My connection is 50 megabits/second. Acer forums suggested a 1 or 2 gig video card that will work with my system, but that will be January or February before I can get it.
