Thanks! Here's another. :)
Time to nic-pic. You com officer is out of focus. I'm also sending a PM.
So is Foundation3D completelely down now? I can't access it at all right now.
Must be. just tried it by way of my bookmark and my system couldn't find their server.
Same thing here. :(
Not good.
She's maybe looking a bit fuzzy.
Fur real?
OUCH! Pun Police!!
this is the answer i got from a contact i found at foundation3d
Andrew March Dead, dead as a dodo, a poly gone
that sucks so many good models gone
the (that sucks so many good models gone) was me. Dead, dead as a dodo, a poly gone was his answer
That is definately not good. I hope everyone that converted F3D models still have their files so they can- hopefully, legally- post them somewhere else.
glad I went on a spree a few weeks ago, but ouch. :(
No ideas what happened then?
May you enjoy the journey, and every pose, render, and panel along the way.
Star Trek: Legends has been running since December 2014, with years before that in pre-production, and is just now this month concluding its first issue, thanks to the help of many fine people on this forum and elsewhere.
I don't know then. In TOS it didn't seem like Uhura was out of focus that much when she was behind Kirk. Maybe it's just me.
Well, depth of field is really a tool, like anything else, to control where you want the audience to focus their attention. The purpose of the scene was to focus on Captain Martin, not on background characters. But here are some TOS images that show slight depth of field changes in similar shots:

In all those shots, the idea is to focus on the person speaking, which in my clip, is the captain. The background is only slightly out of focus, but if it was sharp, it would look like a cgi background, which is exactly what I have to cheat to prevent. :)
The last thing I want to do is have sharp focus to infinity, as then it starts to look too cgi, like this:

Real world photography is best simulated by narrow focus ranges when you try to recreate it in cgi. You can get too extreme, but I try to just barely do any blurs so that it is just a hint and enough to make it look more like a picture than a render.
I guess you're right. For a real good close-up, it works.
Thanks, Madison. :) If it were for my cgi film, I wouldn't blur it at all, unless I was trying to convey motion. But blending the live action with the cgi and a cgi character, gets really hairy! (Especially with a furball like a caitian!) LOL
So does anyone know what the original sound stage sizes were for TMP through Voyager since they all used the same basic stages for their ship sets? I only ask cause I'm wondering how that compares to the sets up at Pinewood Toronto where they'll be filming Star Trek 2017 and I'm curious what they could cram into that space?
I know we don't really have that limitation except for how much memory a 'set' can take but I was curious how big or how much they could build there.
The only sound stage lay-outs I've seen are for TOS and DS9. It's been said that NG's bridge set was the same size as TOS, it's just the lay-out that made it look bigger.
They had the bridge on Stage 8 I beleive for TNG, but the Battle Bridge was the original TMP bridge set. Stage 9 held all the corridor sets from TMP onward as well as sickbay, the transporter, and engineering.
Did more digging and found this
Paramount Stage 9
Dimensions
Width: 113’-4”
Length: 146’-8”
Height: 30’
Square Feet: 16,631
Toronto Mega Stage
Width: 256 ft
Length: 180 ft
Height: 60 ft
Square Ft: 45,900
Yeah they'll have some room to build.
Madison if you look the entire backbround is out of focus. I would say he is using DOF on the image
Yes, that's what he said. I've never been able to get that to do right for me, so I never use it.
Yeh it is harder to do in Poser than Studio
Anyone know what's up with Renderosity? Tried to access the site and got a page of programing gibberish.
Don't know I tried and got this
The www.renderosity.com page isn’t working

What's with all the sites lately? Even this one has gone back to signing me out when I don't want it to.
You mean it had stopped signing you out?
I have to sign back in at lest twice a day sometimes more
