How to bring and Daz Character back into Daz Studio after modifications

February 2022 in Blender Discussion

I been using Diffemorphic to bring in a daz character to merge Geographs (in this case Anatomical Parts). I brought in my Daz Female Character, got the morphs loaded in and merged the Geopgraphs to the main character.

My question is how can I bring back the character and make it so it is as if it never left daz. Right now when I bring back in importing it as a fbx or obj Its all just a single object, can not add textures via the materials of a character or even move/pose parts.

Is it possible to bring it back in to daz as a working character after I exported it out of Daz to Blender? If so can someone point me in the right direction to follow a guide or something?

Google search and search on this forum just pull up how to export not how to bring back in.

Well that was a simple straight forward answer lol. Thanks.

Is it possible to create a character morph in Blender, and just import the morph into Daz and apply it to the base figure?

Yes, that's what the morph loader in daz studio is for. This is the same for blender or any other modeler you may want to use.

edit > figure > morph loader pro

    steps:

    1. Export the figure in rest pose at base resolution in obj format. You don't need normals and materials, just the geometry at base resolution.
    2. Import in blender preserving the vertex order.
    3. Edit the mesh as you wish. Do not add or remove vertices, the topology must not be changed.
    4. Export in obj format preserving the vertex order.
    5. Import in daz studio with the morph loader.

Interesting that your objective seems to be to have a character with the geografts merged. I've often wondered whether that would be possible too although I'm not sure whether there would be any advantage to doing so. The main problem with geografts is that if they are switched off (invisible with the little eye icon) they leave a gaping hole in the parent mesh. Clothes tend to fall into that hole so the only option I have is to create two figures exactly alike except that one has the grafts and the other doesn't.
