[Converting V4 clothes to G8] Is it difficult? I have autofit in daz but this doesn't work properly. Maybe is here someone who can do it?

You need to install a V4 clone for G8F to autofit V4 clothes to G8F directly, only clones from Genesis 1 and up are included in G8F base.

    V4 clone:

    There's also this batch converter:

Another option is to convert in two steps: first autofit from V4 to Genesis 1, save the G1 version of the clothes, then autofit the G1 version to G8F.

Thank you!  I have some V4 clothes and hair I want to use on G8, so this will help!

You don't really need to convert hair just load position and parent to the head.

If you are converting loose fitting clothing, in particular long dresses, then you may find the rssy converter does a better job than an auto fit clone, at least that has been my experience. Autofit often ends up creating an ugly V shape at the bottom front of the dress.

For close fitting clothing, eg: shirts, pants etc, then there is less to chose between them, but the batch converter is quicker if you have a lot to convert.

A good add-on to get better results with autofit is SY Ultra templates, which give you options for various types of dresses, loincloth, capes, ...

So the other day I was trying to load a skirt and decided to use the templates,.. I have SY Ultra Templates installed but the extra's templates shown in the docs, just arnt there,.. I checked and all the files are physically there,.. just it doesnt give me the option

I've used the RSSY clothing converter quite a bit. With most items, adding a smoothing modifier and dialing the Expand All morph negative improves the fit a lot. Some items completely failed, looking like cinder blocks on first load, but re-converting with one of the force options on usually fixes it.

The issue with the RSSY hair conversions is that some older hair items had all the morphs in the neck bone. G8 has two neck bones, so all the old morphs get lost. The converted item has new bones in the hair that make posing easier, but all the old style morphs are gone. Parenting in place with G8 in the 0 pose works well for some items, with limitations.

I tried the tips below and the outcome is bad...

That dress is optitex dynamic clothing, not regular V4 conforming clothes. Autofit won't be able to convert them into regular G8 clothes.

Try just posing it to fit the figure, memorise the pose (Edit>Figure>Memorise>Memeorise Figure Pose), apply a dForce modifier (as I recall that works on the Optitex model, but it may be safer to export as OBJ and reimport first), then do a dForce simulation.

You could rig the optitex clothing to a V4 figure that has been converted to general weightmaps using the Transfer Utility. This could then be autofitted to G8F using a clone.

However that is likely to give a pretty poor fit (the front of the dress is likely to be messed up) as autofit does a bad job on long dresses.

I have converted V4 optitex dresses to G8F by running a dynamic dForce drape with the G8F figure starting off as morphed as V4 (using the clone) then the V4 clone is zero by the end of the animation so it ends up on unmorphed G8F. This normally gives a much better final result. You can then export the G8F draped dress as OBJ, reimport it back, then use the transfer utility to make it G8F conforming (I would also add a dForce modifier).

I do own the maid dress, but I have not tried to convert that one yet.

The Optitex outfits weren't build around V4's T-pose, they use an A-pose similar to G8's, the arms are roughly the same, but the legs are half way between V4 and G8.

Now what you have with these is a Prop with a skeleton parented to it, delete the skeleton and the prop snaps back to it's default A-pose.

Like this you can use the dynamic prop directly with G8F, skirts work well with just a static drape, long pants will need an animated drape, you can then "freeze simulation" to bake the shape, export it as an OBJ and then import that OBJ for use with the Transfer Utility.
