As a sports fan, I have been to about 70% of the major league baseball stadiums, and intend to eventually go to them all.

Have you been to the Astrodome?  Where my alltime fave player Micky Mantle hit the first homerun. Decades ago, my wife & I saw the Astros beat the Dodgers there in an important game.  The crowd sound hit awesome decibels. (Yes, I know it's closed and rundown, but some local kids recently snuck in for some videos. Hats off to them)

I saw a football game at the old Astrodome.  It was the Oilers last season there.  It was a game against the Kansas City Chiefs, which started as the Dallas team in the original AFL.  Given it was the Oiler's last season in town and the owner had pissed off a lot of the city, it felt like the game was in Kansas City, not Houston.

I also went to a baseball game there around the same time, but the football game was more memorable because of the reverse crowd.

Will have to track down the trespasser kid videos.

Yeah, people hated that Oilers owner for a long time.. There has been debate about what to do with the still standing Astrodome ever since it shut down permanently in 2009.  People hate the idea of tearing it down due to its iconic reputation, but nobody can find the money to do anything, so it sits and decays.  The kid videos was only mentioned in a one paragraph article in the Houston Chronicle, not sure if its available.

smiley  Although I did see a cricket match in the Astrodome long ago.  It was some kind of weird format involving big name stars from the major cricket countries, and local amateur players as "opponents".  Sort of like a Globetrotters' game.  All I recall is watching the pros hit balls WAY over the fences.  And those guys were big, muscular looking players. Believe it or not, Houston has a lot of cricket players and fans, one complex has six cricket grounds.

When I heard that a cricket test match can last five days, I laughed.  Then I realized our pro baseball playoffs are generally best of five games on different days with rest/travel days in between.  The World Series (final championship) is best of seven games, also with rest/travel days in between.  The longest playoff game in Houston Astros history was Game 3 of the 2022 AL Division Series against the Seattle Mariners, which lasted 18 innings (a normal game is 9 innings). The game, won by the Astros 1-0, was also the longest scoreless game in MLB (Major League Baseball) postseason history. It lasted 6 hours and 22 minutes. Six plus hours, one run scored.  These are professionals, don't try this at home. cheeky

The longest cricket Test match in history was the "timeless" Test between England and South Africa in 1939, which lasted for 12 days.

It was abandoned after ten days due to the ship taking the England team home. surprise
