You learn about UV maps and textures and the different shaders available with Studio (and/or Poser) and then you find a paint/image program (GIMP is free) and learn to use that. There are no shortcuts to making a good set of textures.

That sounds like a start since I know very little about UV maps!! Thank you!

The UV map is given - what you need to learn is painting on a template so that the result will wrap around the model correctly.

In simplest terms UV mapping is the process of cutting, unwrapping and flattening the 3 dimensional (X,Y, and Z coordinates) mesh object into 2 dimensional (U and V coordinates) map. As Richard said the vast majority of models made to Studio or Poser will already be UV mapped so you just need a way to get the template(s). Most of the models in DAZ's store have the templates available for download through your product library. Then there is the free UV Mapper Classic that with a little work will allow you to extract the map(s) yourself. But for the most popular figures there are SnowSultan's seam guides.
