We still have green leaves on a tree way in the back... very yellow-green, but still... most of the trees have shed their leaves now, but the sugar maples still have a lot of bright yellow leaves on them... normally they should have all fallen by now.

All of our trees are bare. The ground has them though. There is no more grass

Yeah, I'm gonna have to do a massive leaf pick-up real soon... I either haven't had the time, or it's been raining when do have the time, so there are a lot of them to remove now.

Thanks, the photo looks more orange, but there was actually a lot more magenta, and the black point is a bit off... but it's overall not that bad.

The red maples and white oak in my back yard have finally dropped most of their leaves.  The ornamental pear tree outside my back fence, that hangs over it, was planted by the HOA a few years ago.  It still has a lot of leaves, which just started changing color last week.  I loaded nine yard waste bags with leaves, and an old trash barrel with branches and twigs.  You'd never know it.  The yard is filled with leaves again.  The special pickup for yard waste has come and gone.  I'm not doing that again.  Until the Spring, when there's another special collection in April.  Oh, well.

Complaint:  Cobbler with no shoes to repair.  Idle hands makes Devil's mischief.  I'm bored!  I have no computers left to upgrade.sad "George" and "GreatUncleBear" were the oldest Win10 capable machines*.  "George" received a new CPU and is tolerably useful.  "GreatUncleBear" got a new power supply, motherboard and CPU and RAM so he's happily dancin' in the rain.  Well, no.  He's not actually in the rain.  I've moved him back to my bedroom.  And yes, I did get that old PATA connector DVD drive to work with SATA connections via the little adapter I bought at Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0823Q33PT?ref=ppx_yo2_dt_b_product_details&th=1 ; Although it took a while for the system to find a driver for it, and it also looks like the DVD drive itself may need a firmware update to be able to play DVDs with more modern encoding, because only some of my DVDs play movies but music CDs are OK.  Fortunately, it's not a problem right now because I don't use the computer to play DVDs.  I just wanted to make sure I had a DVD in the system in case I needed it in the future for whatever, and I didn't want to buy a new one because I have 4 old PATA-connector DVD drives just wasting away in Margaritavilleon the shelf.

*Note:  I do have two ancient (~2004) Dell computers that run WinXP but they are frozen at that level for archival purposes and ancient games if I ever get the itch for them.  And all eight of my computers are now connected to the system and could all be used at the same time (as long as I don't blow a fuse).

    Sally?...

    Sally Struthers?...

    AKA Gloria Stivic...

    All in the Family?...

    TV?... the 70s?...  get it?...

Bad joke... jokes that aren't funny?... stuff that makes you sigh in discomfort?...

    Discomfort?... sorta like pain?... pai...

egh... never mind... that dragged on way too long.

    That is a dead joke...

A joke that is passed on... a joke that is no more... it has ceased to be... it has gone to meet its maker... it's stiff, bereft of life, if it hadn't been nailed to the perch, it'd be pushing up daisies... it's metabolic processes are history, it's kicked the bucket, dropped dead, shuffled off its mortal coil, run down the curtain and joined the frickin' invisible choir... that is my good people is an ex- joke!

    Sorry.

I'd make it up to you, but since I'm all out of jokes...  so can I interest you in a used slug?

Very quiet and extremely talented creatures they are...

Maybe if it is of the proper weight and isn't steel so it will work well in vending machines

    The Holyoke Octopus Association?...

Damn them and their pear tree planting cephalopod shenanigans!

We had some squid friendly group trying to plant cactus trees over here once, but I'd have none of that and ran them off.

The trouble with the HOA is they usually strike at night and when you wake up your yard is all full of pear trees and there's nothing you can do.

I took some baby shampoo and a spritz bottle.  I mixed water and baby shampoo and put it into the spritz bottle.  I use it spray on hair to clean it.  It still needs to be rinsed off but at least I'm saving water I think?

might get another spritz bottle for hair conditoner.

oh I still do take showers by the way but I'm trying to find ways to save water.

I always wanted a telescope.  I did have a toy telescope when I was about 14.  Saw the rings of Saturn.yes  Ever since then I lusted for a big boy's telescope, but it never came to pass.sad  I could never justify the expense for the scant viewing opportunities involved where I lived.  Then the Hubble started producing the most wonderful images.  Nothing I could see through my own telescope would ever impress me again.  So I just look at other people's pictures now.indecision  Saturn was cool, but the mind expanding realization of the Hubble Deep Field & GOODS images outshines the rings of Saturn.

We actually have a local observatory about 15 miles away.  On the top of one of our hills.

A proper observatory with rotating dome and everything.  They have viewing nights.  But so few nights around here are conducive to viewing.  So, this guy invests hundreds of thousands of dollars to make an observatory on his farm and he has the same problem I did as a kid.  Sucky weather.frown

Speaking of stellar observatories and hills...  what's wrong with this picture of Captain Midnight's Headquarters? indecision

If you're over 65 and male and American you might remember Captain Midnight (aka: Jet Jackson) from the early 50's.

Ah, the good old days when all the heros had their goofy sidekick.  And this sidekick is named "Icky".surprise  Yeah, that's right, a sidekick named Icky.frown  Played by Sid Melton who went on to fame as a character actor for several more decades.  The professor also showed up in a lot of 50s, 60's, 70's & 80's TV shows.  But the guy who played Captain Midnight himself faded away.  I think though to appear in a Star Trek (orig. series) episode where the villagers had to keep feeding Vaal the dragon headed cave entrance.  Oops, nope.  That was Keith Andes.  Never mind.blush  But they look and sound alike.cheeky

Yeah, it sort of looks like they get a good view of the underside of the runway.

Yeah the weather sucks here as well for viewing. The only time we have a clear enough sky is in the summer. The rest of the seasons are cloud covered.
