    Here's my math.

    Bundle 30% saving: $17.49
Famous for Being Famous Highlights 20% saving: $1.82
    Brooke 8.1 Add-Ons 20% saving: $3.59
    === Total: $22.9 saving.

    With 5 bundles, that's $114.5

Plus we have the two free items, one of which was $10.76, so assuming the other one will also be priced like this, that's a total of around $136.

Dear Daz, we need just a tad bit more than this! :)

Edit: and the HDs add another $66.55, as pointed out. For those into HDs, it's a saving already. For those that are not into HDs that much, can we be a little more greedy? ;)

  • Sorry, but the math is wrong I would say: You cannot only count the savings on the various parts as a pass holder would not need to buy the HD again.

So you can only compare buying everything

        bundle + 4 addons (including HD) + 2 extra-addons

with buying everything a season pass holder does not already have

        bundle + 3 addons (without HD) + 2 extra-addons

In that case you get a total savings of $39,52. Then take 1/5 of the season pass against and you have approx $10 savings for season pass holders. This is without LOYALTY-15 applied which would do away a little more from the HD for non pass holders.

Ah, the HD, indeed. The 5 HDs add another $66.55 to the total. Yeah, I guess that's a little bit of a saving overall already for someone who would normally buy the HDs. As you can see, I totally forgot about them, so I personally wouldn't.

    Let me see..

Two items in the sale today that interest me..
Waiting for them getting a 70% reduction and/or other substantial sale price reduction would get them to about $ 19.- (for both)

Hmmm... yeah, quite a lot less than the season pass. And I only have to put stuff in my Library that I want to use...

And I even like that Brooke figure, it's just that she's a) G8.1 and b) that I have some figure resembling here for G3/8 that I got at Rendo about 2 years ago that makes me not interested in her...

Well, so far the pass has been worth it for me. At first I thought Brooke 8.1 was basically Bethany 8.1 and was really happy but even though she's not and is not a character I will be using all the time, it's unique enough and very well made for me to buy, like Ms.Wong and similar characters. Also, as I saw it coming from past 8.1 bundles, I'm really not interested in the bundle so I don't care if the discount is good or not for having the character already. Only stuff I'd get from today's releases are the environments and they can definitely wait.

Mind you, I don't really care about the bundle because I already have tons of similar products but it seems like decent stuff if you don't already have a big library. Though no idea if the discount is good enough.

Well given what I have seen so far with this season pass, the less than stellar so called freebie, Brooke and now the contest rule change to exclude non season pass members I feel even more fortunate that I chose to not be a part of this.

As it was mentioned by another forum user previously, it was odd that the SP contest wan't exclusive to begin with (and could have ended up with stange winner combinations which would have also been complained about by SP holders)... so I think that makes a lot more sense now.

Again if the SP isnt for you, that's fine.. but then I'm not sure why the contest would have been in the first place.

Then that is on daz and since they have already posted one set of rules they should honor them instead of quietly changing them without any kind of notice. By doing it this way it appears that they are being vindictive and punishing those that have spokenout against the season pass or chosen not to take part in it. I am pointing out the origonal wording of the contest was for season pass members to get a head start on the contest before others that purchased Brooke would be allowed to enter the contest and now that all appears to ahve changed. Perseption drives public opinion.

Ooof. I don't know about that smile. Her top lip doesn't need to be that thin. Her skin also looks kind of weird in some lights. Don't know how to describe it... Hard, maybe?

Fair enough! No doubt I am not doing Brooke 8.1 the justice she deserves with my screenshots. What would be an example of a DO character that you instantly liked from the screenshots and test renders that people posted?

Twosret. Millawa. Alawa. Kjaer. There are more but these are the newer ones.

Brooke's skin looks like it could grate cheese. Girl needs to visit a dermatologist, stat. Folks are so focused on the 'YAY! A REALISTIC BODY SHAPE!' Well, we can get that with morphs and and any base character. I rate new characters on their skin and her skin is just an over-normaled mess with no sss or actual detail. And there still is something definitely not quite right about her mouth.

Well, I was pleasantly surprised when I saw the orange banner with a 30% off discount.  That, I thought, is a discount on the bundle that might encourage me to buy the bundle.

Then I saw the base price, and the fact that it *still* comes out to 40 dollars in the cart, which basically feels like they jacked the price up to make it around the same for season pass holders as they were before when we actually getting the figure with it.  I'm going to have to look long and hard at the extras.  Especially since there will probably be another bundle tomorrow that might be more to my tastes.

Oh wow. My BF bought me a hundred and fifty dollar DAZ gift card last night on discount and I thought maybe I should have bought the season pass after all, lame freebie item not withstanding. Then I woke up to Brooke! Bwahahaha! Seriously glad I passed on that season pass. Now I know everyone is going to say diversity, blah blah blah, but we already have diversity. I have an overweight character in the scene I'm working on right now. It's called a body morph. The Daz store is full of them.

I think there are two people here in the forums this morning; those who didn't buy the season pass and are breathing a sigh of relief, and those who did buy and they are trying hard to justify thier purchase after the fact. But I'll predict this, regardless of what people say about Brooke, if the quality of the next four characters doesn't improve (drastically) no one will be buying next season's pass.

  • I’m starting to wonder if DAZ is trying to reinvent their bundles for 8.1. No pro/starter bundles, fewer figures/outfits/hair/poses, but now with props/locations added. Might work for some, but also might make buying the bundle harder to justify for others.

I guess we’ll see if this new bundle idea floats. ;-)

We don't yet know if there will be a second bundle, though there has been with most recent reelases, and we certainly don't know what (if any) saving it will offer exclusively for Season Pass holders so it's a bit early for a full reckoning.

They started before 8.1, around september last year. I think last pro bundles we had were kayo and wild west ones.

Some people like it, i don't. And promo release offers suck big time in comparison to we used to have.

Anyone knows the minimalist quote: "Less is more", as most minimalist sellers DAZ read that but actually think "Less cost more" so people are charged more for less.

Well, Brooke is here and... Ugh.  That skin is terrible.  Worse, the bundle looks like it was picked completely at random.  Does anyone at DAZ even know what the word tenement legally means in the state of New York?  Clue:  it's certainly not where the jet setters and Hoi Poloi would be hanging their coats.

You made me look it up.

    ten•e•ment tĕn′ə-mənt:

    • n.

A building for human habitation, especially one that is rented to tenants.

    • n.

A rundown, low-rental apartment building whose facilities and maintenance barely meet minimum standards.

This is a good reference for the type of buildings in NYC:
    https://streeteasy.com/blog/nyc-townhouses-5-most-common-types/

Having grown up in NYC I can say that these are tenements. Sort of. If you haven't experienced them, then it's hard to explain.

The best way I can describe "original" tenements is that they are nicer to see from the outside than they are on the inside. The insides are generally functional to the point of brutalism. They are not aesthetically pleasing with very little resources put towards extras. They are usually multi functional and always multi family. Two or three apartments on each floor, no more than 4 or 5 floors max. Most of the time with a store front on the bottom floor.

These look like "new" tenaments. In the sense that they have been gutted and replaced. In other words; the originally intended denizens have moved on and a higher class of denizen has moved in.

For the outside of a tenement the biggest feature is the fire escapes. For a tenement the fire escape is almost always on the front of the building, because...

The second biggest feature is they tend to be "jammed" in where ever they can fit. Meaning no side alley, no back area. They are usually right up against the buildings around it, making the front fire escape essential.

Inside its much the same where apartments will be jigsawed into the available space, making sure that the public spaces are limited and as much space is used for private areas as can be.

The interiors of many of them have had multiple lives as well; so you can see where a bathroom in one apartment might once have served the entire floor. Or an entire floor might have once been a flat of sorts, with few interior walls.

    Or to put another way.

The hipsters have moved in and you can't move for Peruvian coffe shops and organic guava juice.

Sorry sweetie! It must feel like a kick in the gut. And I hope I didn't make you feel like I was making fun of you. Honestly, I think Daz needs to seriously take a step back and consider the future of this little experiement. It's not off to a stellar start and it's making customers feel like we have to watch Daz sharp so that they don't pull a fast one, which is unpleasant because I used to feel that there were really great discounts and super fair deals, especially for those of us who don't have a lot to spend on our art. Hopefully the next four characters are something perfect for you, though!

Just wanted to add I'm not crazy with the art direction of the past months. Not at all. Not sure if it's due to the new art director or not, but I have to assume that since I was satisfied before the switch (nothing personal on the art director, of course - his tastes are just pretty much diametrically opposed to my own). Daz has been doing just about everything they can to save me money lately. I apprecitate it ;).

I'm in that group with you. This character with this strange skin is practically one less character for me. And the bundle is not worth it. If only there was an excellent discount on individual items, the loss would be less.

Oh no, I didn't feel like you were making fun of myself or anyone else who got the pass. When I saw the character yesterday, I immediately knew there was going to be a lot of comments from folks saying how happy they were they didn't take the gamble and I wished I were one of them. I honestly thought Daz would bring their A game on this and wow us with five characters that were slam dunk hits, not niche characters that are great for some but not a fit for the majority. Like I said in the ticket I submitted yesterday after getting the character to complain about how underwhelmed and disappointed I was, I do a lot of toon stuff but I would never expect a toon type character in this pass because that's such a niche group of artists, and that's what Brooke is, a character for a very niche group. Hopefully they turn this around for the next four, but I'm not holding my breath anymore lol.

The problem, I think, is there are no slam-dunk-big-hit-for-everyone characters. No matter what it is, some will be thrilled and others won't.

Just curious, but what kind of characters would be "slam dunk hits" in your eyes? Because finding something which would suit everybody is quite hard, especially since we already have tons of G8 core figures...

It doesn't look like much forethought went into the contest. I'm not even sure they spelled the judges' names correctly.
