I think she's nice. She's realistic and well done. She seems to mix well. She kind of reminds me of someone I know. But I don't think you'll be able to satisfy everyone. I know some people want pretty young things for their work, while others want more variety.
I'm really glad she's not a toon. I was worried that Daz was starting to focus on a toony look, so this is reassuring.
...I have to say Brooke is definitely one of the better base figures I've seen. This is more like what I would liked to see for G3.
If she were G8 i'd consider adding her to my library when she is released to the community at large. but not into giving up my 4.12.0.47 Beta which has been as stable as the Rock of Gibraltar since I installed it Guess i'll have to see how close I can come using Bethany as a base.
And here's another.
Thank you one and all for the Brooke samples... I am liking her more and more. :)
Well, I haven't got her installed yet, but I'm really likely the pics we've seen of Brooke so far. She's definitely different from most of the other base figures I've purchased and has a distinct place in my runtime.
Of course, I *am* one of the people who almost always buys the base figures. For me, the question of whether it's *worth* it or not is the discount on the bundle(s) for having her. My hopes aren't honestly high, but they exist.
We shall see.
I might be wrong, but I thought it was a legal no-no in the U.S. to require someone to pay something or to make a purchase to enter a contest, which is essentially, what that is.
Her body looks somewhat natural, her face does NOT.
Yup. Her face is gonna need some work to pass muster. Maybe I can add some better head morphs to give her what she lacks.
As others have pointed out, it seems absurd to think anyone would pay more - and then even more - for the increasingly expensive Gold and Silver Season Passes. So, I'm hopeful that there will be a meaningful discount with the upcoming Brooke 8.1 bundle, and ideally a meaningful discount on other items as well. At this point in time, that would be the only way it'd make sense to buy in late with a Gold or Silver Season Pass.
May the Daz Marketing Gods (peace be upon them) bless us this first season with supernaturally good offers, and may that devious Daz Product Grinch (a million curses upon him) stay far away.
As we wait, here are two quick renders of Brooke 8.1. I'm pleased with Brooke 8.1 - my compliments to the creators!
Ooof. I don't know about that smile. Her top lip doesn't need to be that thin. Her skin also looks kind of weird in some lights. Don't know how to describe it... Hard, maybe?
Fair enough! No doubt I am not doing Brooke 8.1 the justice she deserves with my screenshots. What would be an example of a DO character that you instantly liked from the screenshots and test renders that people posted?
how long till she is to buy in the shop normally ?
at what cost you think ?
at what discount ?
and what is left of your season pass advantage then ?
so the flare just reveales you are a shopping gamer ?
mr and mrs Daz: you are clever
I see it like her skin and facial features are some 20 years apart.
She reminds me of this one actress that has played a bit dumb but nice secondary character in some 50's teen/rockn-roll/girl band movies, she might have been in China Beach too - Found her... Chloe Webb
I like her skin in some of your other renders, but it really seems like PBR skin can be hard to light.
The default skin has SSS direction set at -0,7. That's why the low SSS effect. And like Victoria and Michael 8.1 she likes a lot of light. I don't like this very much as it is sometimes hard to put them in an environment. Either you get an unnaturally dark character or an overly bright environment.
As for the lips, I don't mind them so much, as I have a friend that has really similar lips.
Looks like that Session Pass owners are saving around $30 for the Brook bundle, after they spent $30 upfront for each character of the session
Well, Brooke is here and... Ugh. That skin is terrible. Worse, the bundle looks like it was picked completely at random. Does anyone at DAZ even know what the word tenement legally means in the state of New York? Clue: it's certainly not where the jet setters and Hoi Poloi would be hanging their coats. And Oooo! Season Pass Owners get a 30% discount on a 7 item bundle that's priced higher, after discount, than what we used to get on a Pro Bundle just for having regularly bought products. <sarcasm> Yep, I'm so glad that I opted not to buy into the Season Pass. As ol' Cappy Jack used to say, "Son, when someone wants you to buy something and won't let you see it in advance, it's time to walk the other way."
Her skin looks like plasticine clay in many of the renders. No transluceny, overly mono-colored and with a greasy finish.
Funny how that works out, huh?
Season pass owners spent $30 for the character and the HD add-on, not just the character.
Yeah, looks like that the 15% loylality discount is not for the bundle.
So I get just $5 discount for the addons because I'm loyal customer. In this case you're paying for the bundle the price with the session pass, as you did before the session pass.
Sorry DAZ, I like Brooke, but $58.29 for the bundle is way to expensive. I'm out.
Did a quick check. If you buy all 7 products from today's promo (bundle, 4 addons, 2 extra-addon's) and do not count in the LOYALTY-15 discount, a pass holder gets an initial saving of $27. But as the HD is included with the pass, a pass holder would of course not have to buy the HD again, so its just bundle + 3 addons + 2 extra-addons and a saving of $39,52. Given that figure + HD is approx. $30 with the pass its a net saving of around $10 or a little less if one does not buy everything.
Brooke 8.1 Manhattan Style Bundle with 30% discount. Even if it was 50% off I don't think it would be worth it. Brooke is interesting, but the skin on her face is definitely strange.
I'm starting to think that whoever didn't buy the season pass made the right decision.
Interesting, even buying all of the extras doesn't lower the bundle price, and it's a smaller bundle to boot.
Would it be cheating to ask those that bought the pass what the bundle is costing them? ;-)
Ok, now - Bundle price is $58.29 - with the season pass I already owen Brooke 8.1 worth $22.03, PLUS I already own the anatomical elements.
Adding the Brooke 8.1 Manhattan Style Bundle to my cart shows me $40.80 - Hmmm ... I don´t know why, but I do not feel triggered to buy.
You made me look it up.
ten•e•ment tĕn′ə-mənt:
►
n.
A building for human habitation, especially one that is rented to tenants.
n.
A rundown, low-rental apartment building whose facilities and maintenance barely meet minimum standards.
A quick rough render.
With loyalty discount (15%) the HD Addons costs $13.31 and the bundle stays at $58.29.
You spent with the session pass $30 upfront.
As reward you're saving $17.49 for the bundle and $13.31 for the hd-addon.
Your total saving is $30.80.
Congratulation you saved 80 cents, because you bought the session pass and you'll get the next characters, if you like them or not.
Btw. Brooke is with $58.29 much too expensive. Something between $37 and $42 would be okay without session pass. As an alternative a good deal like $100 DAZ freebies would be also acceptable.
However, I put Brooke on the Wishlist and may get her in one or two years, if I get her for free for a few bucks.
As a regular buyer of bundles, I must say the lack of discount for the bundle is disappointing. The advert for the Season Pass said character and HD: it did not mention bundles. That seems a pretty stupid fail for Daz to me.
Not that fussed about Brooke: but terrible marketing.
Would be nice to see a render with that glossy plastic and bump(normal?)strength toned down a bit...
