To those who do not have a season pass, but yet are disappointed in the "Sunrise Hangout" house, could you describe an asset that you would have been happy to receive as a so-called "free" item?

Hard to make everyone happy I am finding.  I myself think it's a wonderful 'free' item.  Since I suck at modeling... I am in awe at what people create for Daz .. and am very thankful ;)  Keep up the good work PAs ;)

...same here.  Oh, I'm trying but it isn't the same as building model aeroplanes and rockets, sculpting in clay, working with wood, sewing costumes, etc.

Kind of hard to feel the polys with your hands.

Hold up now. I don't want them taking free Stonemasons off the table. Think of us plebs who can't afford a season pass. We want Stonemasons too! But how about this? The season pass holders get to have it first and the item in question can't be given away for free for... idk... 2 years.

Fair enough! I don't think any Stonemason assets have been outright given away for free, though? At least, not without having to also pay for something else. Come to think of it, the "Sunrise Hangout" probably wouldn't end up as a free item, either. It's a decent environment - a notch or two above what you'd typically expect to get as a PC+ member. In my opinion, it's a satisfactory "free" item for the Season Pass. I'm happy with it, and I'm looking forward to Brooke 8.1.

What has been disappointing, however, is that nothing is given immediately upon paying the $150 (or $200) for the Season Pass. The experience of buying a Season Pass would be significantly improved if there were some "3D goodies" to use immediately upon paying that amount. Again, if anyone from Daz is reading this - feel free to make a note of that.

Well, besides not knowing what I'll use it for (hangout for the postman?), I like it. Nice quality and some useful props for other scenes. I did notice some surfaces have 0 gloss roughness (pines, ground).

But quality control failed again. And since there are apparently no backsies for this, I hope DAZ makes it a priority to fix this.

...Blender doesn't have VR support yet but as I understand it is in the works.  Unfortunately it will be somehwhat limited at first to just viewing but not manipulating models.  If modelling could be done using VR gloves that would be an incredible experience.

  • I kind of hoped that those who bought the Season Pass would be rewarded with more expensive freebies, or at least something exclusive.

I think Daz partnered with Grimes last year to do a contest and they gave away a (I think totally) free bundle which included a fairly recent Stonemason. I think it was Fern Lake. I just found that out recently and I missed it, so the whole thing still hurts. A long time ago I got Level 19 for absolutely free too. So it does happen, but it does seem to be rare.

There are lots of sculpting programs for VR that allow you to export your creations as .obj. I wouldn't be surprised if some supported the gloves as well.

What would be an example of something that'd leave you thinking, "That's a good 'freebie' to have included with the Season Pass"? Can you point to an existing asset in the Daz store that, if it were new and just released, would create that reaction/impression from you?

...but are they affordable? Software like Zbrush is way out of my budget.  Also would like to build hard surface meshes that way as well.

I like this as the first freebie. It's something that would have gone on my wishlist, anyway.

I got one for free from the Oculus store. It seemed legit. I think it was from Adobe but I'm not sure if that was a limited time promotion. The others that I saw were less than $40 and from Steam. You can also return a program if you don't like it. I never tried them out though. Some people really love VR, but I am not one of them.

If you're really interested, take a peek at the Oculus and Steam stores to see what the programs offer. You don't need a headset to see what's available for VR.

While certainly looks better than plain plants and unnecesary high poly props, this one looks maybe on par of some of the better freebies from PC+. We did had some environments last year, like the utopia series and others that i may have grabbed on big discount at some point. This one, and here is mostly personal taste, not even wishlisted or grabbed unless free or in those BYOB from PC+ sales and needone to complete a group. And the base price seems a too high, this is just a little more than a vigenette and we have much complete sets from PAs for less.

I thought this would be more. I know these were not supose to be the main attraction of the season pass but not helping much either on the blind faith aspect.

So they're quite clear to point out "2 FREE items" and "5 HD Add-Ons FREE". It does not state that the 5 base figures are included (or FREE) - just that they'd be available 1 day early. Has this been clarified at any point over the last 21 pages?

It has, a couple of times. And if you look at the shop promo (the one that cycles through on the shop front page), it is also stated there. The 5 characters are included in the season pass plus the 5 HD add-ons, plus tow other items. Avoiding the word free, as you do have to pay for the season pass....

I wouldn't have even installed that "free" item. So I guess as today is my last day to decide if I want the season pass, it'll still be a pass for me...

It took me awhile to read through this thread.  This whole season pass does not set well with me. Season passes with games, they show everything you will be getting. in example, Epic games and their Fort Nite show everything.  they are actually going through legal issues for the Loot Lamas. The last couple years, they started showing what you get in a loot lama. So there is total transparency. Daz not making the season pass transparent, might bring legal issues in some countries. They could see this as gambling.  I'm sure Daz has had their lawyers check into this. Though with all I have seen. This still is like buy a pack of Magic The Gathering.  It's a total mystery.  I hope this is all legal, for Daz sake. I would be sad to see they made a mistake and then have to go through legal battles. Epic Games can afford it, not sure if Daz can.  I have been a customer of Daz since 2003.  I hope their dare for flare is a positive one. I will still be a PC+ Member , which is kinda of a mystery as well , at least for the freebies.  Good Luck Daz!

I just couldn't imagine a use case for a building like this.

There's no room for anything behind it. The front door looks like it was taken from a closet.  That weird structure on the left has, as far as we know, a single small window on the second floor and none on the first.  What goes on in there?  Is it a front for a suburban BDSM dungeon?

By the way, are the trees instanced?  They're the highlight of the whole product, imo.

Honestly with the economy the way it is, this is just one moe expense that is out of reach. Another bonus for those with cash to burn, and another kick in the teeth for those who don't have the extra to spend. Adding to the entire capitalistic idea that those with the most can get even more leaving those at the bottom to rot. Prices on Daz have steadily risen since I have been a member, over 15 years, while wages are stagnet. IMHO PC members should get this deal for a *fraction of the cost* say the price of three months of PC membership. Can't and won't lay another $150 on top of the money I pay Daz to be in PC, and all the other purchaes I make. Quite frankly as a long time PC member I feel cheated by this season pass thing.

  • With 20 years of Daz purchasing history I can count on one finger the times I've been disappointed. I don't buy everything thing that hits the store. I buy what I like and can use. I enjoy my PC membership very much and it's saved me loads on stuff I normally couldn't afford.

if I cash I didn't know what do with or enjoyed being in debt then yeah roll those dice I don't have that kind of faith ( my faith is placed elsewhere wink).

Besides I have other addictions that  I need cash for like bass guitar strings, golf balls ,the latest clubs and ammo ( being former military what people classify an assault weapon I would have never taken into combat... I'm not into long guns) but I digress as usual.

Whatever floats your water craft go for it's your buck ( however, with the deflating worth of the dollar on the world markets this could mean it's your dime instead).

anywho buy it and if it brings you pleasure awesome!! For me I'll pass this gem up. Besides that I'm afraid of the wife to knock out cash on an unknown.

  • Well todays the final plat day and that freebie encouraged me in not buying for the moment. I wonder whether we will see any gold or silver flairs the next weeks ;-)

Level 19 is still 'free' as it's one of those things you get with the base 4.1x system. (the weekly freebe page used to have a link to all the things that came with signing up for DAZ but it's either gone or I'm just not seeing it.)

Level 19 was also a part of one of the free 'ready to render' pieces they used to have with a Genesis 2 female figure. (I remembered it because they had her was in high heels and would have killed herself trying to walk on Level 19's grated floor in them! ;-) )

    I just keep thinking ...

If i'd done this, I'd have kicked it off with a deal that was inarguably, unequivocally, 100% in-your-face a deal that no-one could turn down. A blindingly good deal. Stunning freebies. Exclusive top quality content. Astonishing discount.

(Including elements of choice so you can pick eg which 5 out of 12 figures you want to grab.)

That way, they get everyone keen, hooked and buying into it, getting used to the idea of the season pass. Then it's much easier to keep it rolling from there. A regular income for Daz and a load of very happy clients.

The fact that so many people are adding prices up and getting a very unconvincing result is a huge marketing fail.

For a laugh check it again today as many of the sales ended at their midnight. For me the 'Current Value' went from $145,184.52 to $153,307.85 - not too bad for spending a bit under $9K. (So if you see your 'Current Value' drop like a rock it's time to go shopping! ;-) )

That one "free" item is exactly what I was afraid of when I asked about the quality of the "free" items a couple pages back.

I am just happy that I could not be infected with FOMO because of the two so-called Free items, as I totally ignore Genesis 8.1 and DAZ 4.15 anyway.
