I'm going crazy. Daz to Blender Bridge..(

February 2021 edited March 2021 in Blender Discussion

Hello. I have the latest versions of daz and the official site. I animate characters in a blender. The previous version of the bridge worked well for me, but after the update everything changed. Now when I import into the blender, I have everything the same as in this video: https://youtu.be/jhiymo7olS4?t=238
I have a question: is this how it should be? The author of the video, pretends that this is normal. But that's not [blooming] normal.
Now I can't use inverse kinematics, it's impossible to use everything at all.
I found an old version of the bridge on the Internet, but there are not some features that were available in the previous version of the bridge.
Just explain to me, is this how it should be? Is there something I don't understand? How to use it? Where can I find the previous version?

The latest version of the Bridge doesn't show foot and hand IK helpers on my end either. It is a bug for sure.

However, you can use To Rigify button to change the default rigging into rigify rig and I prefer working with rigify rig, it works a lot better.

I definitely prefer the Daz rig for posing, as crazy as it sounds. It is limited but it was an easy quick solution for IK rigging. Where's the support @Daz?

Yes, rigify is good. But if you use it, it becomes impossible (probably) to import the animation back to daz.

We know about this issue and working on fixing it sorry for the inconvenience it has caused. In the meantime, we do have the old version accessible through our GitHub.

Thank you so much, you helped me out! I didn't know I had access to the previous version

You're not alone. I tried setting up the DAZ-to-Blender a few times. Uninstalling and reinstalling everything. Every time there was a problem. I finally got it working... then DAZ Studio crashed and when I reopened it, the "Scripts" menu dropdown was missing.. And I wasn't able to get it back again, so I gave up.

Sorry to hear about the issue with installing the bridge. I do have access to the newest update on Github as well if you are having trouble installing off of Install Manager. Please note though we do not have instructions on installing manually currently.

Мы знаем об этой проблеме и работаем над ее устранением, принося извинения за причиненные неудобства. В то же время у нас есть старая версия, доступная через наш GitHub.

This version works great for me, so thank you, that's quite enough

Out of curiosity, why would you want to import the animation, or anything, really, back to Daz? I don't know much about Daz, but it seems like a much more constrained work environment than Blender.

Me personally there are times that I want to animate in Blender and import back into Daz because I can render faster with iray and some scenes I do don't need to be completely done in Blender, and sometimes it's just easier to run a dForce asset through simulation in Daz instead of figuring out how to properly weight map it to get it to simulate correctly in Blender so I can animate in Blender and ideally bring it back into Daz to run the simulation and render.

    @benniewoodel

I hear you. I hate trying to figure out how to do something in one program that I already know how to do in another- it can be pretty confusing, for one thing. Fortunately (?!) I know so little about 3D in any program at this point that it's not much of an issue...

    I get paid for it
