Blender animation back to Daz with Blender Bridge

November 2020 in Blender Discussion

Hi!

Not sure if I should post this here or in Daz discussion, maybe in both? smiley

I'm trying to find a way to use the Blender Bridge to export a figure from Daz to Blender, make an animation, then get that back to Daz for clothing, final touches and rendering. From what I understand the way to do that would be with a BVH file, but the rig that the Blender Bridge creates is messing up the nodes pairing when importing the file.

Exporting the figure from Daz as a FBX file like it's done in this VIDEO works perfectly when importing back the BVH file but the rig is god forsaken awful to animate in Blender, at that point I'd rather just animate in Daz.

Anyone knows if there is a correct way to pair the nodes with a figure exported with the bridge or another way to do it properly?

There is an iClone sale at the moment so I'm trying to find out if Blender can work instead for the workflow I want and save the money, or just bite the bullet with iClone.

Thanks for any help!

The bridge is one way, from DS to Blender.

Yeah, I know the bridge itself is one way.

I guess what I would like to know is if it also makes it impossible to get BVH data I can use in Daz or am I just importing it wrong frown

I have been trying to sort out. Similar work flow. I've had some luck exporting BVHs from Daz and retargeting them in Blender to DazToBlender bridge but it's def not 100% acurate. The Diffeomorphic importer apparently does a great job of it however and the BVHs made out of Blender with that rig may transfer back to Daz ok? Daz is sooo close to being able to do most of what iClone does but for free..it is frustrating that it's not quite there... just out of reach.

Danceforms is another possibility for BVH retargeting and conversion

it crashed for me with Mixamo FBX but BVH should work

finding a safe download link is another matter

Google seems to put a whole bunch of unsafe ones up since Credo made it redistributable

    the original is not working

    http://charactermotion.com/products/danceforms/index.html

    maybe https://charactermotion.com/df-download.html

there are a lot or really dodgy links out there, they do it with other redistributable software too but usually the genuine one is on the first page
