I think you are over reacting a little there.
You have a point there but I hated getting covered in blood, feathers and chicken guts to taste that fresh fried chicken. :)
It is a play off a song but I do not know how I feel. Maybe it is not the end of the world, but things probably will not be the same.
Ivy, if you can, get some sheets of corrugated galvanized steel siding and cut them into 3 foot lengths and drive them about a foot into the ground up against the hen house walls and attach them The foxes will ahve to dig real deep to get in. You could also use two layers of flashing with chicken wire sandwitched between the flashing sheets. I have also had the displeasure of cleaning out a hen houise but we had to use shovels and a pickup to haul it to the garden (50 to 100 chickens create a lot of "fertilizer").
I like to make pickled eggs from eggs too , the constructions around here.not my job they wonl't me near a hammer...lol we don't have any big animals like pigs or cows
AH OK, forgot about that song from R.E.M. Things are pretty crazy but this is certainly not a world changer that the media is hyping it up to be. Between social media and instant access to information via the internet the threat of a global panic has increased for the littlest things. Yes it is worse than the comon cold and the flu but it's not going to wipe out 2/3rds of the worlds population. Things will be disrupted for a few months and then it will return to normal and we will wait until the next big event so people can horde toilet paper or maybe something else next time.
It will be the end of the world for about one or two percent of the people who get sick.
True but you get that with the flu and any other illness as well but there is no one stirring up a global panic over them is there? People jsut need to step back and take a deep breath and look at this a little more logically.

Yep it is a little messy by the time you ring their neck, blanch, pluck, singe, gut, then butcher them, you were prettuy hungry anyway. Also I only had to do one at a time as my granny seemed to know which of her hens were not laying and therefore eligible to become a nice chicken dinner (either fried, roasted, or boiled for chicken and dumplins or my granny's home made chicken soup). Also had the freshest eggs (as in laid the day before and collected the prevuious afternoon). Would get several dozen a day with 100 chickens and my granny sold most of them. Lord In hated cleaning eggs and putting them in cartons. Most people don;t have survival skills any more. If I was still healthy enough, a good fishing pole and a good shotgnu with deer slugs and bird shot and I would be eating fish and game all year round (within season of course don't cotten to poaching). I could still start a fire for cooking and warmth without matches if I had to but cooking in the apartment fireplace would be a real pain.

...yeah happened here in Oregon too. . Restaurants and coffee shops can only do take out. Pubs, clubs cinemas and the like are closed down. My Tuesday night gaming sessions have been moved to Discord (we usually meet at a local games shop which has lots of tables) however I don't have the proper gear required (headphone with mic and net cam). Yeah a bit of a bummer as that is one of the few times a week I get out to socialise. Fortunately the weather is going to be nice through Friday so I'll be able to go out for walks. Fortunately the dispensaries are open here so I can replenish my CBD for my arthritis.

...the Safeway down the street currently has a local brand of chili on sale (though the end of the month) for like 1$ and change so I snatched up like a half dozen cans of the regular save for the Jalapeno Hot (which I can't handle) and cheese varieties (something about cheese in a tin just doesn't cut it) Instead of saltines I use corn tortillas which I cut into quarters, got a big pack ones which should last a bit.

Nothing is normal about this. Here all of LA County was shut down. Schools will be closed till the end of the school year. The only things open are grocery and drug stores and restaurants for takeout and delivery only. New York is shut down, most of Europe is. Amazon cutting down on deliveries that aren't essential. This is not just an ordinary flu or media panic. This was pronounced a pandemic by WHO.
I like to check the DAZ sales every day. Load up the cart with the absolute best math I can find. Then at the very very end? I clear that shopping cart because I haven't worked in 2 weeks and counting. I'm now thinking about adding whiskey to this rotation.
we are doing ok in my area we have been inside for a week but everyone is still out and about all the tp and paper towels many are greedy and buy it all up
so they are limiting 6 rolls per family city , i am trying to take my mid off whats going on out site trying to do artwork again
still mad at eon vue software company for there lie about being hacked a friend of mine said this
they where not hacked at all they changed companys and or sold the company and banning all the software we did own forcing us to
do the pay aka rent software ............and lied about when they come back online a deal of some kind they lied
the last i got word is many who payed so much for the software and models over the years some where going to file a class action on them
i am going to move to another world making software that looks great i am now sure if i can post the name or not of the software i will try
here goes world creator 2 Professional it can do alot of things and a one time fee and free updates
right now i am useing blender getting use to it and jumped back into wings 3d
but if i had to pick one software and only one i would start bryce all over again its that time less great first 3d software

Turns out I was worrying for nothing. It's not prescription medications that people might be hoarding but stuff for cold and flu. I am sorry if I worried anyone. I certainly don't want to be a "fearmonger." Wishing all the best for the DAZ community and the world as we go through these trying times.
My family lives in Washington state, and they have shut the state down as well. I never said any of this was normal. By definition the flu can be called a pandemic by the WHO. Is COVID-19 worse... yes I am not denying that. What I said was that people are freaking out because the everyday things they do are being disrupted. People jsut need to calm down, paniciing isn't helping anything and it will only lead to larger issues in the long term.
Understandable. I have a bottle of Tylenol for fever, some cough drops, a bottle of cough syrup, and some nasal spray to help congestion. I'm not hoarding anything, because I've seen the damage hoarding does in this crisis. A friend told me they have a police officer in the local Walmart now, because people were getting in fist fights over what food and supplies are left. I won't be getting in any fist fights over anything. There's no point.

Yeah. It's about time for me to do a grocery shopping again, and I don't know if I want to brave the huge lines and the possibility of contracting the virus. I think preppers like Ivy have had the right idea for a long time. I'm on a fixed income and have never really been able to stockpile things, but I think if I made a more conscious effort to be prepared for a situation like this, in retrospect there are more things I probably could have done, even to just be prepared for something like the flu or a blizzard much less a pandemic. This will definitely be a learning experience.
Ah....I spend summers in Lab West. I love Newfoundland, what a gorgeous place. We will be traveling back from Arizona, as my sweetie has his health insurance in Canada only and the press conference today said for all Canadians to come home sooner rather than later. I am more on the side of hunkering down, but who knows when the best time will be for the long road trip from Arizona? I imagine there will be difficulties and lack of services along the way, then the 14 day quarantine when we get there. Fun times.
