Starter Bundles

The one irritating thing about the store is if you have a pro bundle you still see the starter bundles, so here's an idea if someone has a pro bundle give them the starter bundle free then it won't show up, if done automatically when you buy the pro bundle, problem solved!

Yup. And also if you own every item in a pro or starter bundle purchased individually, the bundles still shows up in the store as not purchased.

This is why it is worth buyer the starter bundles that are in the freebies now, even if you own everything inside. At least that way they will not longer show up as not purchased.

Exactly but as they know what pro bundles you have they should offer the matching starter bundles free to you anyway.

Something like that is what they did for some of the really old bundles, like some of the Victoria 4 ones. They nested bundles into bundles, and at some point it simply became very hard to figure out what was actually in that top level bundle. Was even worse when bundle X contained bundles Y and Z, and some products were part of both bundle Y and bundle Z. Then it looked like you'd buy a ton of stuff, but it was actually just bundle Z + the two or three items that were in bundle Y but not in bundle Z. I still don't have the whole collection of Victoria 4 bundles, but do have most of the contents from other bundles anyway.

  • Buying the pro bundle shouldn't be getting every piece individually. It should be the starter bundle plus the additional pieces this solves this hassle.

Except that the store system doesn't work that way, which is why they use the individual items.

Except that the store copy lists the starter bundle as part of "what's included".

That's human-generated, not part of the store system (which is why the list is usually there even when a bundle hasn't had its products properly associated).

Then, in my opinion, one or the other should change: either the pro bundle actually includes the starter bundle, as the copy states, or change the copy to something like "includes all the items from the starter bundle".

  • The Daz Deals browser addon (at least I think it's from there) adds a function where if you look at a bundle, you can see the individual products with the ones you own greyed out (and a handy calculation of how much it will now cost per unowned product). If you own them all, it'll tell you. Won't remove the starter bundle from your store view (though you can do that manually with the addon when you purchase the pro bundle).

Not sure if there's a message if you're looking at an individual product that's part of a bundle.

I tell you what is confusing is to chase your tail in following the links for the "What's Included" products in the "Ultimate Canine Bundle". I finally figured out you have to buy the "Ultimate Canine Bundle" to actually get all those canine products and to ignore the other products, buying the other canine bundles won't do it, even though it seems they do when you follow those "What's Included" links.
