Physically shorten dforce hair?

Hi all,

I use PhilW's Longdrape hair a lot and really like it (https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-longdrape-hair-for-genesis-3-and-8-females)

However, a cointuing issue I have is that I like to use the shorter presets. Unfortunately, this seems to just hide the rest of the strand so when I simulate the longer hairs can still get caught on things which often causes the shorter hair to be slightly horizontal rather than hanging realistically because it's not actually a shorter hair, just a longer strand that's invisible part of the way down.

Any way to physically shorten the strands to the render length?

I have some morphs for the hair on deviant art - see my sig for links. Can't recall if they include that - but I use the scale options under materials that are related to the the dforce hair settings. I asked PhilW before I actually shared them and he was ok with it btw; I'm not claiming he endorsed them though. :)

Not all PAs include that setting so that method of shortening (or lengthening) hair is not always available.

Oh wow awesome, thanks! I'll definitely check them out :)

Edit: You only made ones for the back, not the shoulder ones. Still lots of good stuff that makes it better for other things though!

Use the scale in the material settings; it gets a bit hit-and-miss if you go for extreme lengths like in the example, but even then it can work well enough. There are two settings, one I've highlighted and one lower down.
