@dawnblade "I'm opposed to this kind of "pay for speed" that could have been a free add-on."

You could apply that same logic to the base product and each of the add-ons. Frankyl, that doesn't make sense. This is no different than a Texture pack for a clothing item.

The dll required time to develop so it would seem reasonable for those costs to bre borne by the customer. Either paying now,so that one can choose, or having the base product be more expensive.

Agreed. It definetly is extra effort. Everyone has to pay some bills, and I am happily paying for some extra conveniance. The add-on leaves a joice: pay for the extra speed or go with the standard product. I am opting for the first, and hope there will be an "speed up" pliug-in for UltraScatter soon.

UltraScatter is being completely re-developed as a plugin instead of a script - so yes expect a vastly faster UltraScater some time next year.

It makes it more fun to experiment and try different things, doesn't it?

Awesome! Of course I grabbed it as soon as I seen it!!  The scene I am working on took 17 min 32 sec to generate before, same scene 2 minutes 47 sec after Accelerator installed!!

  • I had some difficulty getting this product up and running and at first I thought it was because I usually do manual installs and so have a slightly unstandard setup of content.  It turned out that I was still running v 1.2 of ultrascenery, so a quick download and install of the latest version fixed the issue.

Only had time to run once this morning, but what a fantastic increase in speed.  One of the best products I have bought this year.

My new Accelerator plugin for UltraScenery is now available. The plugin, written in C++ using the Daz Studio SDK, speeds up scene generation by at least 5x (and often up to 10x). Even the most complex scenes will generate in less than a minute with this plug-in - simpler scenes can generate in less than 20 seconds.

    Accelerator for UltaScenery

@HowieFarkes Can Accelerator be installed manually? I ask because I (and others) can no longer use DIM, and Tech Support have been unable to fix after several months.

Yes, just copy the .dll (or .dylib on MacOS) into the plugins folder of Daz Studio and relaunch Daz Studio.

    Howie,

I unzipped the manual installer and I couldn't find a .dll file anywhere.  All it contains is a .dsa file, a .png for the readme and the readme itself, in .pdf format.

    Cheers,

    Alex.

I have all the Ultra Scenery packs, absolutely love them, so this accellerator was a total instabuy for me!

However, after installing via DIM, I don't see a difference when US is creating a scene?  It used to take about 3 mins and it still takes about 3 min?  So what exactly does it change, as for me there is no discernable improvement in my scene creation times?

I think the actual DLL has to be downloaded through DIM. It's a separate zip from the content and it's not available for manual download. Don't know why this is the case, but . . .

It seems to have sped things up drastically for me. As mentioned in the PDF, "You’ll know that the Accelerator is installed correctly when you launch UltraScenery and see the new title background". Do you see the new title background?

No, I had't seen that in the info, and there is no new title background. I may have to try reinstalling. Thanks for the info though!

  • Oh. Dim only download. I have no Dim as my machine is unable to access the net, and I install manually only. That's a bit of a problem then. I suppose I can live with the script version.

It is mightly clever being able to interface with a program using a dll - I have never succeeded in doing so with my C++ programming.

    Regards,

    Richard.

As long as you can get the .zip, from another machine with DIM, you can isntall DIM in the offline machine, place the zip in its Pacakage Archive (the downloads folder) and install. You don't need to be online.

I had exactly the same issue.  Make sure that you are using version 1.3 of Ultrascenery.  I was on 1.2 and the new logo didn't appear until I downloaded and installed the program again.

My internet connected download machine is an android tablet. Not terribly DIM compatible, and the only other PC I have access to is at work, and it's locked down against unapproved programs. So, as I said, a bit of a problem.

DIM-only is a problem for me too. I can't get DIM to login on my current computer, and don't have another one to use it on. So no manual download means no product.

  • DS freezes every time I build a scene.

Accelerated USC frozen at building river pebbles. Took screenshot after 5 min.

Closed X on USC dialog. Used USC render preset. My interface is frozen into split views, which I don't use. I can access menus, so here is section of log file. I'm on latest version of DS 4.14.0.10 and latest USC. DIM installation.

When I click on any of the tabs now, like Render Settings or Content Library, a viewport pane is added.

The freeze of the USC interface has happened to me also. I can track it to building a scene with Restrict to Camera set to Current View and then rebuilding the scene with Restrict to Camera set to None. Did you go through that same sequence of events?

I did not have the workspace corruption that you showed. When I closed DS after the USC freeze, DS crashed. Did that happen to you?

Try reloading your workspace or a different workspace, and see if that restores the workspace to the way you want it.

Thanks barbult. I didn't use restrict camera. I ended DS through TM. Opened DS now and running USC again. It is stalled at "Creating Base Grass Instances" after 9 min. I am using extended background option in USC, so will close this and try w/o.

Yes, just closed USC dialog, exited DS through menu, then DS crashed like yours did.

  • Hm. I did run UltraScenery quite a few times, with various settings, and never experienced a crash or hicup. It runs more stable than the no-plugin version. Running on Apple hardware, so this might not be representative.

@HowieFarkes Here is DS crash info afterwards, if it helps.

    DAZStudio.exe caused ACCESS_VIOLATION in module "C:\Program Files\DAZ 3D\DAZStudio4\QtCore4.dll" at 0033:0000000056CCC8F8, QEventLoop::exit()+8 byte(s)

Any Ecology I have tried, including some of my own, work fine.

It sounds like your freeze problem is different, then, if you aren't using Restrict to Camera. What terrain settings, feature, ecology, water and build settings are you using? I can try and see if I can reproduce the problem.

I used Oaks 11, River 3, Clear Stream. With/without extended background. Everything else default. Thanks.

This time I tried No Features, Grassland 1. It finished in 17 sec., but clicking the Done button doesn't close the dialog. Had to X out. At least I'm not getting split windows, but DS still crashing after closing. Will try w/o plugin.

Thanks.

I built it without background (extend forest) and it completed successfully in under 1 minute. I then rebuilt it with background (extend forest) and it completed successfully in 1 minute 21 seconds. In both cases there was a pause while building the litter layer, but after a few seconds, it continued. The Done button worked and everything was normal.

I wonder if you have some other plugin or setting conflicting. I built with my viewport draw style in texture shaded mode. Once I accidently built in Filament draw style, and that worked, too. I don't have Octane or Reality plugins installed.

I don't get the log message about the script completing successfully, though. That seems strange that you get the message after a failure and I don't get it after a success.
