Exporting fbx from daz

Hello all,

So, I have a problem that's driving me insane. I've searched all over the forums for an answer but nothing works, I hope someone can help me.

I'm trying to export a simple animation fbx file into marvelous designer. Someone told me this is not possible, and that in order for things to work I should open my export into say, Blender, resave the fbx and then open it in Marvelous. I did this for ages and all of a sudden it stopped working. Whatever I try, I can't get it to work. This is the pose I'm trying to export: https://gyazo.com/2047d87b4cfd58753ba13b3b88a912a3 and this is all Marvelous gives me: https://gyazo.com/4715771aafbfe7f5cd6372768c6e38f5. (look at those eyelashes floating) It doesn't matter if I open the fbx in a different program, 3dsmax or maya all give me the same result.

These are my export settings: https://gyazo.com/5b41185390be6c422278846303f4d021

I've tried nearly everything, different export options, different settings, but I'm no expert.

Can someone here shed some light on this for me?

Thanks!

  • Hi SarahSconceptart

Although it sounds counter-intuitive, if you are exporting out an animation range, uncheck morphs and see if that gives you the pose as you want it.

  • If the animation is quite short, try Alembic.

Also, if you're not trying to model clothes, just simulate them, I've found Houdini 18 to be just as good as MD, but better at this sort of thing.

Thank you Bryan! I've been sitting on this one for weeks and that morph thing solved all of my problems. It still won't take the eyelashes with the pose, but I can live with that. Thank you so much!
