content question

Hi -

I have content that shows up in "Content Libray" but not "Smart Content". Why is that?
Also I copied in a few items from renderosity.com and cannot find them in Daz Studio.

Would appreciate any help I can get.

Thank you

Older content (Generation 3 & 4) won't show up in Smart Content.

What type of items can you not find? Clothing, for instance, for me is found under - People - Genesis X - Clothing; and then sorted by vendor name.

  • Conent will show in Smart Content only if it is categorised, and if Filter by Context is checked only if it is marked as compatible wth the current context (e.g. with the selected model).

Smart Content isn't very smart, and if you use a lot of content from any sites other than DAZ, it becomes even less practical.  I deleted the Smart Content tab from my workspace years ago and have never missed it.

Here is an item I purchased and copied the files to:

    C:\Users\Public\Documents\My DAZ 3D Library

And using Smart Content or Content Library tabs - I do not see what I installed.

    Here is what I purchased

    Feel confused

As far as I know, nothing sold at Renderosity is set up to work with Smart Content.  You should be able to find that full character load at

    \People\Genesis 8 Female\Characters

It's probably labled as MMD Leilu

And then the sub bits and options can be found at

    \People\Genesis 8 Female\Characters\Maddelirium\MDD_Leilu

while the full character, head and body morphs can be accessed in the paremter dials

OK File open and then it opens but does not show in either Smart Content or Content Library.

Or at least for another item I got from the site that is not this one.

It will never show in Smart Content unless you manually convert it to do so.  It SHOULD be in you content library though.  Every Maddelirum G8 figure I've got shows under characters as MDD (name) and then the options are under Maddelirium.  So... .did you actually install into your existing default library, ie - merge the People file into People, Data into data, etc?  And did you power off before you installed it and then, after powering up again, hit scan known directories?

That's hard to know about without knowing the product as there's never been a consnsitent placement pattern for Renderosity products.  If you have the product page for that item, there's a link to a read me list that shows exactly where the file is supposed to show up.

How exactly did you get the files out of the zip? Unzip directly into the "My DAZ 3D Library" folder? Unzip to a folder on your desktop then copy the folders across? If it's the first, look to see if you now have a "Content" folder (and probably a "ReadMe" or "Documentation" folder) directly inside "My DAZ 3D Library". If so, the files are in the wrong place so D|S can't find them — it's expecting to find the folders inside "Content" one folder level up.

What you should be doing for a manual install is merging the zip folders inside "Content" with the existing folders of the same name inside your "My DAZ 3D Library" folder. In the case of that character, there should be folders for "Data", "People" and "Runtime". Merge the matching folders, and all the files inside should drop into their proper places.

Note that a lot of people use the second method I mentioned above; unzip to a dummy folder on the desktop and move the folders across. It's much less of a problem nowadays, but content from non-DAZ sources wasn't always zipped up properly. Installing this way lets you spot any glitches and fix them.
