I once wrote a graphic novel (everyone has to have a hobby) using some of the more "sexy" DAZ armor. There was a scene where the engineers were showing characters their new combat suits: 4 male marines were in very conventional gear (although with some football inspired touches) and the 2 female elite air/space operatives were in much "less generous" outfits, complete with THWs (traditional heart windows).
One female character complained, and the tech explained it as "the marines are wearing $80,000 combat suits, pretty good stuff. You're wearing $24,000,000 of our most advanced tech. You not only could pretty much tear apart all 4 marines one handed, but the bare areas are surrounded by the generator coils for local forcefields, and we don't have any material that can survive directly in the center of those.
They also gave them the option of trying a $100,000,000 armor that consisted of nothing but a coat of body paint, and could stop every weapon on either side's arsenal.
One operative was the only person left by the time they reached the mission goal, and she only made it because her helmet kept her brain alive after she'd been decapitated. Her armor dumped her body, took over a dead marine's combat suit, and interfaced it to her brain so she could carry her head tucked under her arm. She died when she had to throw her head into a launch control system, since she'd used up ever explosive aside from the 5mg of antimatter which powered the helmet.
I def owe Ian Banks for making me look at how little antimatter you actually need to do some really useful things, and for having a character finish the mission by detonating her head. The horible jokes like "quit while you're a head" are all mine.
There are several products like that out there. A couple of days ago I acquired Mar3D's "BOY and GIRL" product over at atrocity, or blender city, or something (I distinctly remember there being a "city" in it. Is there a 3D site called "Detroit Rock City"?).
Well, you asked...
Wait... what do you mean by that? Is it 2in1 character; fenale and male? If you tell me which ones are like that, I'll be hally to buy one or two of them
If you decide to become a vendor with the male content you create, I'll be your first customer! I'd love to have Marvelous Designer, but it isn't in my budget at the moment.
At this point, I'd settle for a decent pair of men's pants.
with room for your geoduck
If it weren't for IH Kang, most of my males would be naked. Hmmm...is that a bad thing? ;)

I think the main reasons the genders split again was because they were a nightmare to create content for and because if you split them, double the fun and double the money ;) Instead now, it's no where near double. The females get it all the males get ignored.
Sometimes I wonder that if the males and their items do so poorly why Daz even makes them at all...

LOL
I totally agree with what your are saying, but I have seen this same conversation ad nauseum. I only really buy female figures during mega-mega sales, as it would be a crime not to. I was just as frustrated as you with the lack of flow for male products and the quality compared to what you get for the same money in the female division. I have more males in my library than I know what to do with. I rarely, if ever, use them straight out of the box, but rather I use a mixture of various character morphs straight onto a Genesis 8 Male base character, throw on a skin, and create my own - which usually end up a million times better than the standalones. I used to throw money quite recklessly at Daz, but have since decided that if they are not selling the stuff that I want, I will go elsewhere. I taught myself how to use Marvelous Designer, which is quite easy once you get over the inital learning curve, and now I make my own clothes. With the scripts/mods available now to convert female clothes to male, I find I am actually buying pieces with decidedly 'unisex' type items for my males. Due to the lack of quality for male clothes nowadays I have bought quite a lot of iray shader resources to breath some life back into the plastic looking content that seems so prevalent for male wardrobe items these days. Yes, I do understand that vendors don't want to waste their time and energy on items oo products that don't sell..but it is rather a self-professing prophecy. All that said, I do applaud Daz for their insane sales and I do usually end up buying the stuff that I would normally turn my nose up at...because like I said, it would be a crime not to.
'Self fulfilling prophecy'
Why do you think this is true? Why do you think vendors are mistaken in their observation of sales?
How are they misinterpreting 'I sold a male and female version, female version sold 3x as many'?
I get the frustration, I want more male content.
I don't try overlooking the data.
There's a lovely new male character over at Renderosity today, he comes with tattoos and fibermesh hair. I'm going to pick him up. I suggest you others who seek male content check him out yourselves.
Just a little note to remind everyone to please keep this conversation civil.
I don't mind getting female characters, but I do look forward to see a male figure soon. And I don't think there are more females because the PAs have a perverted mind, but maybe because that's what they are more comfortable with and are the most profitable, which there is nothing wrong with that.
The problem that I see now is that the anticipation for a male character is growing so much that our expectations are at this point a bit too high. I'm sure once a male character is released, people are going to complain that it looks too old, too young, the same as another character, and so on because it is not what we are envisioning in our minds. I'm expecting a Gianni 8, but I have a specific vision of him in my head and I'm sure once it is released (if ever), I might get dissapointed a bit (or it could become greater than expected, who knows!)
There are many G8M characters out there that in my opinion are being underestimated such as Alistair, Sebastian, Callan HD, Steven, Roderick, and many others (even shapes like M3D HR Hero Shapes and Distinctive HD Faces and Bodies) plus monsters and aliens such as those from RawArt and other PAs).
The positive thing I got out of this was that I ended up doing a lot of custom male characters (over 40!)
There are 1157 Genesis 8 Male products in the store. How many more do you need? Try mixing the morphs on characters and using skins from one on another for variety... You can also transfer the 972 Genesis 3Male products to Genesis 8...

The truth is I don't need anything anymore, I have enough content to last several lifetimes but just because there is more female content, it doesn't mean there's a lack of male content.
i wonder how much of the male content people have actually used so far. There is quite a lot of it available despite there being relatively more female content.
I started using Marvelous Designer as a way to make bespoke clothing for males where there is not a Daz alternative available. It's quite useful to add to workflow, but realise it is pricey.
In terms of male content, the only thing i find lacking and would appreciate more of is male body hair products, i.e., SBH presets for Genesis 8 male.
But over all what i find lacking is high quality environments (read: high quality textures/modelling). Many of the daz store scenes have been unusably bad of late (not all, i hasten to add, but quite a few).
Check out Oh My Body Hair over at Renderosity. It's for G3 but it works great on G8 and looks very realistic.
But I hope some other skilled hobbyists might take on the challenge ... I feel this is an area where hobbyists may fill the void because people who don't do content creation as a job would be more inclined to create content they enjoy rather than depend on sales to pay their bills (which I totally understand! Nothing wrong with that!).
