5th time in a row. Really?
All I gotta say is: 5th female pro bundle in a row. If that's not a wake-up call, I do not know what else needs to happen to start pushing out more male content. I am tired of seeing female only content in store because I have so much of it now. I know male content doesn't sell, but I've bough tm just about every possible product for males that was on official Daz store and even some from Rendo. I don't know why people are so obsessed with "young females" but no interest for "any kind of males".
At the end of the rant: Is there any individual artist (or group), or a person I could reach out to to create custom male character for me? I really need that (and plenty of other people as well), so we could set up a store with male-only content.
peace

You won't be willing to pay an artist what their time is worth for a single sale.
Well, if a lot of us gathers together we might get a nice product we actually want. Not those females which I hAve over 120 different characters... I don't need them any more, I own all the essential morphs along with PLENTY of characters, so I can mix and match them to create really unique shapes. I can't do that with males. And that makes me really angry. I don't know why the whole world is obsessed with females. I guess there is a bunch of horny old men rendering all kinds of scenes, thats Why they need so many of them
If you invested several hours of work into a product and wanted to maximize your profits for the time you invested, would "you" want to target as many buyers as possible or a minority? BTW many women posting content post female renders: Angels, fairies, princesses ect... and they probably don't relate mentally to horny old mens points of view. They would also probably rather design beautiful flowing dresses than mens shorts. Just sayiing...
PoserWorld does custom work.
Lord knows we need some more toon males or even a Guy 8. Better than "25th generic white girl bundle that frankly you could just make yourself with the unholy amount of female morphs avilable.'"
its like wanting skirts with big pockets
Okay, one thing of note: I do appreciate that one of those 5th lady bundles was a new African American gal, and looked very different from Monique, who is basically the standard for African American Genesis figures.
But, unless everyone you gather together is willing to pay more for the product(s) than you are paying now to fairly compensate the creator compared to what they would have made spending the same time/effort creating a female product, you will be in the same situation. As I understand it, the male products sell fewer numbers than female. IIRC one recent posting by a vendor indicated they get about 30% of the sales on their male product(s) compared to female products. That would mean you, and everyone in your group, would need to pay about 70% more for your items.
I have no idea if everyone who wants more male products would be willing to pay this much more than they are paying now. If they would, you might be able to form a group/marketplace for male content to get more of what you want. However, I would think that any vendor participating in this would want a certain amount guaranteed up front, in case a product (or all products) fail to meet the needed sales due to lack of interest, or people simply not wanting to "put their money where their mouth is". It might be worth a try, but keep in mind that the vendor(s) probably won't want to assume the financial risk, as many rely on this as either their primary or secondary source of income (i.e. if they don't make the required sales, they don't eat).
Call me a horny old man or whatever, but keep in mind, as noted above, there are women that also prefer working with (or looking at) female figures. If I started rendering guys, that would be the end of my DAZ hobby as my wife really dislikes almost all the male stuff, but likes my female renders. So it definitely isn't just a guy thing (just look through the various galleries, there are a lot of females rendering female figures).
we, I myself included have posted this many times
we have been told these near identical white girls sell like hotcakes and PAs are in it for the money as is DAZ, its a commercial enterprise.
so yes others do understand but wanting something the majority don't won't get us more no matter how much we ask
there are many many posts on this topic
This is why I tend to think more in terms of shifting the audience.
If you want more of something that's not as popular, you need to reach the customers, not the creators.
...or shoes without spike heels and futuristic armour that doesn't leave the belly and upper chest bare.
I'm on your side ALLIEKATBLUE but I guess we're troublemakers and not allowed to like what we like or have opinions
Yep. The people I've gotten interested in Daz Studio have almost all been fandom regulars, and the majority of art I've been commissioned to do by folks in those circles has been of male characters. There's a huge awareness gap, but that's definitely a group that would want a large variety of male figures and assets and fun clothes for them.
ikr, another tika clone
Three of them identify as males and are starting hormone therapy in January. Only way to know which three is to buy them and ask.
What about kickstarter.com, or something like that?
I've given up, there's no point in asking for male stuff. If I see a male item I want in the store, I'll buy it. If not I won't. I still check the store each day, but inevitably, my only thought is: none of this interests me. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Not gonna lie, unless the guy is REAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLY pretty like sparkling gorgeous or slim/goofy/adorable (like Ollie) then I probably would rather stare at females. I'm a female, not some 'horny old man'. Ollie and Nix are my two fav male releases so far (Yuzuru a bit, he's very toon so judicious amounts of mixing). I just like 'pretty' over macho. Nothing wrong with muscular, but it's not my thing. Although when it comes to male content... for some reason I have umpteem tshirts and zero long sleeve /sweater stuff (well now I do thanks to holiday PA freebies, thanks!)
It's not worth it, I gave up asking long ago. If you want decent stuff for dude, you either spend a boatload of time learning how to make it yourself, or you just be mad all the time because no one else but you buys normal male stuff apparently lol.
A simple suggestion - if you want more males, learn how to make them yourself. No, I am not trolling. In the real world, time and time again I have been forced to make things I need, so why not here?
Even if you can't go full creator, there is nothing to stop you editing the textures you already own for your own use, and nothing stopping you from buying those male morph packs to create different males to use those modified textures.
For what it's worth, as much as it's annoying not to have more male content, imagine the vendor spending a lot of their time on male content and then seeing it sell really terribly. And contemplating their ramen budget.
Why can't you do that with the male figures, I do all the time when i need a unique look and i am actually using a male figure for once.
Another thing to consider, maybe the PAs prefer to develop for female characters over the male figures, regardless of sales. I create my own characters, morphs, skins and all and I enjoy developing for females over males way more. I have considered trying to be a PA a few times and if it happened, I would focus on female figures instead of male since it's what I enjoy.
These conversations come up so often it would be nice if the discussion could get pinned to avoid redundancy.
I primarily use male content. Most female econtent is of no use to me, unless I can repurpose it for the men.
It would be nice if there were a published release schedule so we'd know when the next male would be out. I know it won't happen, but that would be my preference. I think that would curb a lot of disappointment and frustration people feel.
Also, quite honestly, it has been a really dry month for guy content at DAZ. In addition to no male bases there really hasn't been a lot of male content released, that isn't monstersish, so I can sympathize with people feeliong a dry spell. Fortunatley, there are other stores, and other pa's who seem to be adding more male content at least weekly.
Not knocking monsters. I buy all the monsters too... They are cool, I just don't consider a male monster the same really as a base human-like male.
Another suggestion for the OP:
If you can afford it, the next time it goes on sale you might want to pick up FaceGen:
https://www.daz3d.com/facegen-artist-pro
If you have high res reference photos on hand, you can use FaceGen to create your own Genesis male characters, complete with custom skin maps. (Lower res pics work, too, but the resulting face textures won't be as high quality.). Then you can combine your custom male character with a morph package lsuch as this:
https://www.daz3d.com/genesis-8-male-head-morphs
to tweak and refine your character even more.
Good for them! The minute someone comes out with a cross-gender converter about half my runtime is getting T and top surgery and I'll never lack for male content again.
"a cross-gender converter"
Well they kind of tried that with Genesis, but it went over like a lead balloon - kind of a jack of all trades, master of none reaction. So, back to separate males and females.
I still like Genesis
I will try to create a male wool coat next because I can't find that in the store and I want one.
Lately I also got some male outfits sets by IH Kang and they render well. Even better with some adjustments and some postwork. Good choice for everyday clothing if you do contemporary renders which feature male figures.
