Hey, today seems to be one of those rare days when almost NOTHING is on sale! Yes, I know there are SOME things on sale, but in relative terms, this is a breather. Relish it for the lack of stress, if nothing else...

...apparently even those sale items are no longer on sale as they all rolled back to their regular prices and we have 5 hours to go until "Daz Midnight".

Did you put them in your cart? The main page sale only shows discount once in cart.

Also see the EASTEREGG coupon hidden on the banner for an additional 5% off. (Saw that in another thread).

Are the ‘less than a buck’ items only less than a buck if you buy one of today’s new releases?

y'know, there are times when the advertising here gets really really close to ... being not correct. "A huge selection of items just under a buck!!" - and it's only when you read the fine print you realise the addition of "IF YOU BUY A NEW RELEASE". It just kinda skates really close to being a bit....well, you get what i mean.

  • "Up to 44% OFF ‘Holy-Moly’ New Releases"

All 8 of them are 30% off.

That takes it down to 50% off.

Also the less than a dollar stuff are less than specified. (not that I mind)

Where's the 'huge selection of items"?

When I clicked on the link I saw a single item, so I unchecked "Hide Items I Own" and there's less than a page of items.

By what stretch of the imagination is thirty items a huge selection? Even a hundred is not a huge amount, just a lot. I'm not complaining that Daz is offering thirty, but for the hyperbole used by Sales.

I'm guessing that all the Sales staff used to sell vacuum cleaners, because they really... Heh. You fill in the rest.

Similar to the last "huge" collection of PC+ for a day - maybe two pages at best. Huge implies hundreds or thousands, as per the other huge batches they had which really are huge at 3000+ items.

No, that doesn't take it down to 50% off. The "extra 20% off" applies on what's left after the 30% off is taken, which makes the overall discount 44% off, not 50% off.

It isn't how grammar works though.
First they state that you get up to 44% off, then in addition to that they say you get an extra 20% off. They also are very non-specific as to what the Extra 20% applies to. The implication is it applies to the original price, NOT to the reduced price. Basically they are using bad grammar and outright lying - or they have stuffed up their maths. They can't have it both ways. Reread it.

No, thatbisn't the implication - this is how percentages are meant to combine, and extra X% applies after the initial Y% (or vice versa, the result is the same barring any rounding issues). Instead of combining two discounts think of a discount and a sales tax - you take the discount percentage off and then add the tax percentage to the discounted price to get the final price (and again, adding tax to the base price and then taking the discount off that would yield the same final price)

Even so, it is still saying UP TO 44% OFF, then GET AN EXTRA 20% off. What is actually being OFFERED is 30% off, plus an extra 20% giving 44% TOTAL, not the implied possible 44% with and extra 20% giving a total of 52.8% off.
What SHOULD be said is "30% off when you buy ONE blah blah blah, or 44% if you buy two or more." See, It's nice and specific.

Same here. There are only 30 and I own all but one of them; so, no real incentive for me to buy anything.

  • That's funny. The Less than A Buck items are priced HIGHER than they would be if there wasn't a sale going on.  The 30% Platinum Discount isn't being applied, if I wanted to purchase said items without buying a New Release.

So, in the grammar, "Extra" discount specifically means discount off the -30% sale price. If you are looking for the sales discounts to be cumulative from the original price, look for when they say "Additional" discount. Therefore, a sale at -30% with an "Extra" -20% nets you -44%. If they say an "Additonal" -20%, it's a net -50% off the original.

Bottom line, though, if the price isn't what you're willing to pay, don't buy it. Sales are meant to get your attention and get you looking around for more things to maximize savings. If ultimately, it's not worthn it to you to support the artists, don't buy.

EDIT: sorry, didn't mean for that last line to sound snarky. It wasn't meant that way. :)

But I came here to ask:

Exactly which items are "LESS THAN A BUCK"? Even after deselecting "hide items I own", not a single thing is less than $13.95; In fact, EVERYTHING is $13.95. I have two "Holy Moly" new items in my cart and am not seeing the sale price on items from the $0.79 list.

    What am I missing??

    Erik

EDIT: because let's face it, I will buy EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THESE THINGS at $0.79 each. Even any ONE, but I'm not seeing the number.

EDIT 2: OK, NEVERMIND. The prices in my cart have changed to the proper <$1 price now. $0.44, even. Score...

No, that doesn't take it down to 50% off. The "extra 20% off" applies on what's left after the 30% off is taken, which makes the overall discount 44% off, not 50% off.

The two statements are in different "paragraphs". Look at it as one is the attention grabber, and the second is the detail on how you get it. This is the format Daz uses for their advertising.

Yeah, looks like the people who did such a great job on the PC+ sale decided to take a vacation.  My own reactions were 1.) "WHAT Holy Moly items?", as all I have is an empty space and then, after checking and finding that there were only 30 items to begin with, was that clearly DAZ's marketers' definition of the word "huge" is pretty questionable.

So, that blurb sounds like it means there will be a new coupon every few hours for the rest of the month?

  • CybersoxCybersox Posts: 9,265

Looks to be wonked up.  The ad specifically excludes new releases, but the 254 page selection begins with multiple pages of new releases.

  • Be careful with the new coupon ... I do not know if the problem is with Daz or with Paypal ... but I just got duplicate charges ... twice over. I know it will get fixed, but now there is money stuck in limbo for possibly a few days.

I got 20% off GC a couple of weeks ago, but 15% is a very good deal (without other required items).
