How to get open Required Products?

Is there a possibility to get a list of all open Required Products for my current lib (eg you have an iray addon but not the basic item)?

That's one of the functions provided by the Daz Deals browser plug-in: https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/106296/announcing-daz-deals-browser-add-on/p1

Bear in mind that it's a more advanced function that has to be set up in the options.

A browser plugin which has knowledge about my whole lib (scan it) and can check all required items against my lib itself and then build a list of it?
    Are you sure?

Is there no Studio, IM or account possibility? It would in interest of DAZ that I see my lib-gaps and buy items.

The OP wants an easy way to find any products in their product library for which they do not also own all required products.

People have been asking for these features for long enough that the Deals plug-in was contrived; I would agree that it is in Daz's interest to make it easier to navigate the store, find add-ons, find prerequisites, etc, but they seem to have no interest in doing so.

Thanks, but that is still confusing to me as i only purchae items that I have the required product for. It makes no sense to me to purchase something that requires something I don't have to use

Well, sometimes there are great deals on add-on textures, etc., and you figure you'll pick up the base when it's available on favourable terms.  I've bought items like that more than once, but don't make a habit of it.

One no-risk example is the bi-weekly freebies are often mostly texture sets.

I don't pick up everything out of them - adding things to my collection I'd never use just makes inventory more difficult), but I'll pick up anything nice enough and will wishlist the base item for later.

Not to mention that some products are useable without the “required” products, but that having those products give you extra capabilities. For one example, I picked up the weekly free bundle this week, which contains three Jack Tomalin train products that all require a third. You can add the trains themselves into a scene with no problem, but there’s an additional track component that shows up as a grey box because I don’t have the required product. As another example, some products are made for multiple different figures or generations of Genesis, and maybe you have all the requirements to make it work in G3 but not G8, or vice versa.

I guess my shopping methods are different from you guys since i don't purchase anything I can't use without another product that I don't have yet, sale or not, but i appreciate the info.

I’m curious now. Let’s take a product like IDG Iray Essentials, which consists of upgraded Iray materials for all the G8 base figures available at the time it was released. Of the couple dozen figures required to make full use of this product, I only own three. If you were in my position, would the fact that you don’t have all the requirements outweigh the benefits of using it on the ones that you do own?

If you like the base characters and use them a lot, it might be?

Also the FREEBIES work this way to get a lot of textures. Would be nice to know what Required Items are needed at sales times like now.

While most of the biweekly freebies get the item added to my wishlist there are a few that slipped through I occasionally come across, worse I find stuff I assume I don't own the base to but because of the odd folder structure I discover I actually do, Marionette by shifting images one example where people stuck addons under other folders and of course unless I know the vendors name cannot immediately find the matching outfit only to disvover I owned it searching the store!

I lost my percentage off option from DAZ Deals trying to add that advanced option angry

dunno how to fix it and never got the required product option either

It's a hypothetical question specifically for FSMCDesigns. I know how I'd answer the question, but based on his other posts in this thread, I'm curious how he would.

Well, if there IS a feature in the Daz Deals browser-pluggin that detects all instances where I have an add-on product (such as different fabrics for a seperately-sold dress) but where I don't have the required product for that add-on product (i.e. that seperately-sold dress) and it then gives me an itemised list of all the Required Products that I have add-ons for, such that I can then check which ones are on sale, I haven't found any reference to it in the Options pane for the Daz Deals pluggin, so I'm guessing the one who stated that something like that was part of the Daz Deals pluggin must have misunderstood what the original poster was saying he or she was talking about.  Or am I missing something in the Options pane somewhere?  A hidden option, say?

You neeed to make your own. Here's what I do if the add-on is free and decent, or if I missed  the main product and now it's full price but the add-on just released at 30% -50%  is a must have, I buy the add-on  or download the freebie, make a folder, download the files, take product screenshots etc and I also take the screenshot of the required product page and name it !Required #####  (# is product sku). Then I add the required item to my wish list and make a wishlist comment  such as '!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Required' or !Required buy if dirt cheap' or !Required - Not wanted ( for products I wouldn't buy but would be wuilling to try if free -in case it shows upo as a freebie).

how dare I forget to emntion, the most important part? The beauty is if you do a drive search for !Required you get your list.

a comment search for the wishlist would help.

I use an excel sheet with names and direct links but only after time  so it's not complete and indifferent which manual workaround you start later it will not complete.

I would like to suggest a Required Products info in the  outer (outside the zips) .dsx file  with name and/ or (better and) id.

So you can write a script scanning all Required Products and a script comparing owned vs required list.

For me it works well. I track, I watch, I buy.
