Rigging, how to use memorize?

What is the use of the memorize and restore figure rigging? How would I go using it?

In the same vein, I wonder whats the difference between Align and snap ; again with the rigging tool.

  • Restore figure rigging enables the rigging to travel with the morph from shape A to shape B and back again.

When you use the Align/Snap you'll see ... you can align the bones and/or get the program to assist and snap 'em into place.

Written back a few editions of D/S, a tool or two were renamed, but the concepts are true so I still recommend blondie9999's tutorials.

I might actually grab those products thx.

Ok so, "restore fig rig" restore the rigging before you "adjust rigging to shape"? You don't always need to memorize. What's the use of memorize then?

I use align bones but what does snapping do?

  • You memorise the rigging i its base state, and DS uses that as a starting point for any Adjust Rigging to Shape commands (and stores them as offsets from the base). You should do it only once (barring corrections), before starting to load morphs, as far as I know. When you use Adjust Rigging to Shape it is actually changing the joint centres, so if you do an ERC Freeze to link the chnages to the morph you need to have the Restore Rigging option set, or manually restore the rigging, afterwards to avoid breaking the normal bending.

O ok I see. I normally reload the scene because Ctrl+z doesnt work after rigging and ERC. Might save me time.

Thanks again.  I got all my problems solved as for now. See you next time sh*t hits the fan
