Big decisions...

So, Thursday afternoon, and there's all this new Centaur 8 stuff. There's also a banner "Because you own the last Centaurs" coupon.

I do a little shopping.

• Centaur 8 pro bundle.
• 4 Centaur 8 textures. Hmm. That's weird. I always get a bunch of texturesd or characters when I get a pro bundle, there's always offers that take them down to pretty low. Even the banner coupon doesn't quite get it to where it would be outside of the PA sale. Weird... Maybe DAZ willf fix. Don't check out yet, give them a few.
• 8 Centaur 7 characters, poses, armors, etc.
• 10 assorted stuffs from the "select featured artists" and "bonus featured artists" sales.
• A couple of PC+ items (1 in the sale, 1 not, although it's from yesterday).
• And the Asian freebie.

Yeah, that's 26 items. I like the price. I go grab something to eat. Come back, add another two items from "still new". There's a big cart price jump! Take those items out. Cart is still way higher than before. Like $30 (I can't remember the change. So I go through the usual dance...

• Log out and log in.
• Cancel the coupon and apply it again.
• Go away and come back nearer the DAZ witching hour (2:15AM, my time). It's still high.

Look item by item, to try to find the error.

and discover that the "Special featured items" are the problem. It's the usual "40% off Special Featured Items. Get 50% OFF* when you buy 2 or more. Buy any Debut New Release OR Still New Release to get an EXTRA 50% OFF* These Special Featured Items" thing. The EXTRA 50% OFF has gone away! My 8 Centaur 7 items have doubled. I have 5 Debut New Release items and a Still New release. They're $60.69 and they were (and still should be) should be $30.35 (And hey,  my "about $30" was right, within a couple of coins of change.

Now, not all the "Special featured items" started off 40% off, there a mix of 40%, 52%, and 67% (which, I learned long ago, means that the "special features" have overlapped 1 or 2 of the "Featured Artists" sales. (Hey, I'm a little better with math than most). And again, I learned long ago that in this situation,  the "Get 50% OFF when you buy 2 or more" amounts to 16.67% off of whatever the items are listed as, 40%, 52%, or  67%. The "get an EXTRA 50% OFF" is self explanatory.

The obvoius next step, because it's late.

• Go to bed, see what tomorrow brings. It brings a new banner coupon to replace the old one, and the total is still too high.
• Now, I've already got 5 "still new" items to satisfy the "Buy any Debut New Release OR Still New Release to get an EXTRA 50% OFF* These Special Featured Items" criteria. But there's some new stuff that looks cool, so I add in Solar Wardens, Young Centarus, CC Centaur Breeds. So, having 3 New and 5 still new is still not activiating my 50% off the special items.

It's almost 5 hours to the witching hour, and I have to decide...

1. Dump my $229.86 cart.
2. Leave it alone, check out, and fight DAZ support for $30.35.
3. Dump just the items that were screwed up.
4. Go with "1. Dump the cart" and additionally sit out the rest of the PA sale (likely impact on DAZ about $1000).
5. Go with 4 and request a refund of everthing else I bought in the last 30 days (I did this once before).

Recommedations? Roll a D6 and ignore 6?

DAZ, you've really got to learn to appreciate the dollar value of ill will from when you break all this stuff. No matter which way we play this, there's going to be ill will. That's the main reason I took the time to write this note. My billing rate is like 3x the amount  of your error, so even if this gets resolved, it's cost me $60 to $90. But these are things that need to be said.

Okay, rule one, take out the freebie... it messes up the coupons... You can just get it as a separate cart.

Items that have a price in the store but are free in cart mess up (i.e. lose some of the value of) $X discount coupons. A % off coupon would not be vulnerable, an item that was free in the store would not be an issue. There's no harm in taking the freebie out and making it a second order, but I'm pretty sure it won't have an effect.

I'm sorry for not replying to this sooner.

I usually hit "your posts" instead of "your threads" and oddly enough if you start a thread that's not considered a "post".

I ended up dumping the cart, checking out with just the free item. Then picking up everything that should have triggered the maximum discounts and it still came up at the way high price.

Then I looked at how often I used the last generation of centaurs and decided that it's not a priority. Now the flash sale today, that was a thing of beauty and got around 50 items from it, plus a handful of new, featured, and fast grab items. And we're minutes from the witching hour so let's see what's next. ;-)

Well I made my big decisions for this month already but I hope the PC+ sale number month has plenty of ooompf because I have a long list of PC+ items I want at the ready.
