hex and wings

One of those questions again. Had both hex and wings on my system - and much unrelated water has gone under the bridge. I uninstalled hex and kept wings at some point a year or two back, having made some decision. I am now trying to go through Dreamlight's tuts on modeling where both are addressed.

Wings seems to be much more simple (the interface) and at least appears to be able to do anything hex can. How far off am I? I'll stick with wings unless there is something mandatory in hex.
