Are we as consumers so shallow?

I guess part of it is being shallow, but the reality is that DAZ Studio is a program many use to generate ‘sexy’ or explicit artwork. Can’t pretend or lie to ourselves that there isn’t a sizeable amount of people who use it for this purpose. For this reason, I can see why this kind of outfit was made as there are people who will buy it to fulfill that purpose. Actually, some may buy it but only use portions of it. Who knows. Do I think it’s silly to have a skimpy outfit with this theme? Yes, and unnecessary. No offence to the PA though, their work is good.

i'm guilty of rendering Genesis female in skimpy outfits.  :(

The female outfit in this case is simply more utilitarian. Similar hats are still worn today, that robe would work in a contemporary setting, and the bikini could act as uh, a bikini. What else could you do with that male outfit except for niche martial arts renders?

Also, because I'm an uptight, easily offended person I find the word "shallow" as it's used here unneccesarily perjoritive. Somebody who does fantasy ninja renders has more philosophical depth than somebody that likes sexy outfits? Sure...whatever you say.

  • A thread that starts out by suggesting that people are shallow (even if it's "we") is not going anywhere good.
