I would like to purchase clothes that look more realistic with a few wrinkles and such but a lot of times the clothes for the figures cost almost as much or more than the real life clothes I buy for me which doesn't make sense. :(

I'm good with spending for good quality men's cgi clothes that have real world details and look properly constructed. Unfortunately, there isn't a lot to choose from. There is some newer stuff that gets close but falls short.

Why should an artist invest a lot of time in fiddly heavy armor for guys when it won't sell enough to make back the time?

it's hard to make the Tom of Finland sausage-packing morphs that would work with the non-dforce clothes that we have... Maybe one might try it with dforce pants, however. Angle some anatomicals down the leg, widen one thigh, see what dforce does with it.

Not tried that yet but I would imagine if you have the genitals on then you would just position it like it's packaged in underwear.  and I'll bet the pants and deforce would work fine.  It would probably take a little dFormer to pull the pants out just enough to encompass the gens and then run the sim.....

Maybe there should be a little forum contest to see who can render the most realistic Tom?

Well, that would be one way to drive the forum mods to utter distraction!

  • Well, idk if it'll help much, but they just released the Genesis 8 Cross-Figure utility in the store today. If you're willing to put in the time/effort to go through G8F clothes and add cross-figure support for stuff, you'll be on your way to expanding G8M's clothing library. Haven't tried it on clothing conversions from G-G2-G3 yet, but it's a start!

I could already autofit clothing for G8F to G8M. Some works, some distorts badly, some doesn't distort but looks like a man wearing clothing designed for a female body shape. Which is fine, if that's what you are trying for, but that doesn't replace getting clothing designed for a male body shape.

Cross-figure conversion is not the same as auto-fit, mostly in that it preserves the rigging and corrective morphs. I can't pretend it's flawless, but it's so much better I've mostly stopped bothering with autofit unless I'm being lazy.

But that isn't what this utility does, is it? This utility is for when you already have the cross figure information, and allows a confirmed to have multiple target figures, correct? Or does this actually handle projections differently? Regardless, that doesn't address the rest of the issue.

Considering getting it, but yea, it still doesn't solve all my problems. It's great for clothes that look a bit unisex, and will extend a wardrobe a bit, but I'm still excited for more masculine style stuff. I get that the sales quantity isn't there for male vs. female stuff, but I do hope that some vendors who have been itching to do more male stuff see this and try something.

Also what I wouldn't give for skin builder for gen 8 males.

Also FYI, mark florquin (Polygonal Miniatures), has a lot of realistic photogrammetry scanned clothing options for daz studio males on his website.  Most of them are contemporary casual, but a few are more unique.

I have not tested any of them to see what they look like after conforming to the character in different poses, but they seem realistic in stationary pose at least.

The stuff on CGTrader? Yeah, there's a lot of them, but none are rigged.

skimpwear for mans.  with the brock morph.

budgie smugglers.  not a single speedo found.

If you are looking for male skimpwear dzheng is back in buisness over at Rendo and he is putting out so much of it Victoria is pouting.

I bought his first few few offerings which were much more normal clothes, but  he's losing me with the gay fetish wear. I just don't use it. I wish he'd go one on/one off....lol.

Ehhhh... different strokes. I’m just happy Dzheng is back. Loved his Genesis stuff, fetish or normal!

"For content creators, this helps customers use your product across both male and female figures. As a customer, you can take a product you already own and do the same."

I can't authoritatively comment on whether the product allows multiple targets for the same conformer (I haven't bought it, as of yet), but it explicitly allows customers to convert existing products.

For the sake of comparison, the green version of these test images is a proper cross-figure conversion of the G3M Cyclops Armour to G8F, the one in blue relies on Auto-fit. Hence why one keeps the shape of the armour around the elbows and knees, and the other has armour plates made out of rubber. I don't have a female-to-male example on hand, but it demonstrates the general difference.

A lot of the male stuff is inferior to the female versions, but when I see well made male clothes, etc I buy it, in hopes that vendors make more and better. I don't even return the poorly made male items (unlike the female, which I do return). I think I'm just throwing good money after bad.

How do you return stuff? I didn’t even know you could do that. I have some stuff that doesn’t even work and I kept it

You can return it within 30 days of purchase. You got to file a CS ticket I think for a refund, never done it myself that I recall, so I don't know for 100% lol.

https://www.daz3d.com/intimates-for-genesis-8-male-s has Speedo style swimwear. OOT makes the most realistic underwear for males and females.

As TheKD said, contact Customer Support. Look at the top of any Daz page, and click on 'HELP', which takes you to https://www.daz3d.com/help/ where you select 'Go Here' and follow the prompts.
