Choosing a codec

MacBook Pro OSX El Capitan Ver 10.11.6 Daz Studio 4.10

How do I go about choosing a movie render codec? I read that there is a question that opens when you save the render to choose a codec but I do not see it. So how do I choose my codec?

IMHO you'd be better advised to render to an image sequence (eg. PNG) and let your video software create the clip. I use Blender's Video Sequence Editor but I guess that something like iMovie would be good too. I'm not near my DAZ computer right now so can't answer your question directly.

I realize this is the normal pratice I  do use it but I would still like to know how to choose a codec.

Thanks for your reply it was the one I expected. I look forward to your advice in the future. I just started to use Daz and was curious about how to go about choosing a codec. Thanks again.

The codec choice window appears when you render as movie.

You can find the option in the Render settings pane, the other options are Stil image and Image sequence. Remember that you need to select your codec at the end of each render.
