Okay it’s maths time, generally speaking the buy X number of new items to get extra discount on other items or gift cards can be a bit of a false economy, especially if you don’t have any particular interest in the new items but today looks a like it maybe worthwhile if you have the loyalty discount (and the money to spend). So here goes, lets see if my maths skills stand up.

Put two new items in your cart, 30% introductory discount, plus an extra 20% multiple purchase discount plus the extra 20% loyalty discount means these items are:-

    100%-30%= 70%-20%(14% of full price)= 56%-20%(11.2% off full price)=

44.8% (55.2% discount) which is not bad for a new item.

Now add a gift card, stack the 15% multiple item discount plus the 20% loyalty discount:-

    100%-15%=85%-20%(17% of full price)=

68%(32% discount) off a gift card!

Check out, redeem the 32% discounted gift card.

Put two more items in your cart and get the discount above, plus a 32% real world discount for the store credit you’re about to use means that the new items are:-

    100%-55.2%= 44.8%-32%(14.336% off full price)=

30.464% (69.536% discount in real world terms)

Add a Stater pack, get the 60% multiple item discount, add the 20% loyalty discount, the 32% real world gift card discount and the optional 30% Platinum Club+ discount:-

    100%-60%= 40%-20%= 32%-32%=

    21.76% (79.24% real world discount)

Platinum Club Plus extra 30% discount:-

    21.76%-30%=

    15.232% (84.768% Real world Discount)

$89.95 to $13.70 real world price, $20.15 in the cart.

Please check my maths, I’m getting on in years, it’s 10 o’clock here in the UK and I’m on holiday in sunny Norfolk (UK) so I had a couple of beers last night, and I’m about to get a sloppy cuddle from the dog which can be quite distracting.

Of course, to add insult to injury I don’t get paid until Monday and I’m really spent up for the month so looks like I might miss out.

    Welcome to Norfolk.

Thanks, unfortunately it's our last day, going home tomorrow, we only live a couple of hours away but it's the dog's first holiday so we didn't want to travel too far with her. We come this way fairly often as we do like Norfolk, looking at possibly selling up and moving this way in the next couple of years as work is getting to be a drudge and we want to slow down and enjoy life while we're able and Norfolk is pretty dog friendly.

Anyway that's enough of that, better get back to the sales talk before the complaints about hijacking the thread start up.

Teen Jane was so close to hooking me in this time, but the Starter Bundles in today's sales DO NOT count towards the free items you get with Jane's Pro Bundle. If they had, I could have packed away 3.5 of them with the discount. So I might just shoot for the 32% discount on gift cards and let Jane be.

Your post made my head hurt. That's why I, 1) use Daz Deals addon and 2) use this calculator. https://www.omnicalculator.com/finance/triple-discount

Not checking the maths. as for me it would mean to buy two items I don't have a use for to buy a gift card, then buy another two items I don't have a use for and spend a part of said gift card to get a starter pack from which I only need the figure/HD figure and two of the four (or so..) items it comes with for a price that is still higher than some previous discounts.

For me it's more about "items I don't have a use for" than "saving a couple €s" wink

Funy fact: the best bundle sales - discount-wise - always come from sales with lots of items I don't want to buy, even with that discount... wink

I'm back from the beach/pub so...

@ Cris, yes I use the Daz Deals plugin as well but I wanted to check the maths, and take into account the 'real world' discount from the gift card stacking discounts which that understandably doesn't.

@maildecker, I agree, the buy this & that to get an extra discount often isn't worth it but today with the stacking discount on gift cards it can be quite a saving if you're in the position to purchase a reasonable sized gift card, the two cheapest items (braces and mini skirt outfit) come to $16.09 with the double discount, so a gift card of $51 covers the buy in price, anything over that is 32% free Daz money to use later. Of course if there are a couple of new items you want that are more expensive then it makes more sense to buy those rather than the cheapest.

On Growing up Faces sale, there's some odd math going on in the discount.  The bottom of the page says "50% OFF¥ Featured Artist Catalog Items
Buy any 2 or more "Growing up faces" New Releases to get an EXTRA 20% OFF Featured Artist Catalog Items". Yet if you put two Growing up faces new releases in the cart with an item from one of the featured artist catalogs it doesn't actually subtract the additional 20%. It's more like 60% instead of the 70%.

50% off with "an extra 20% off" means you take 20% off what's left after the 50% off is applied, so the resulting total discount is 60%, not 70%.

I believe that's probably the "Hackysack Circle Placement Utility Tool" that is listed in the "what's included". Looks like a tool that shows you where to place the figures (on the colored squares).

You can buy a 20% discounted gift card first, with just enough amount to buy the 2 items and gift card, for even more discount I think.

You can not buy a gift card with store credit. That is to stop people getting a discounted GC on top of another discount GC, and makes sense, if you think about it.

For Richard or whichever Mod is on duty,

I just put some stuff from the Are you Feeling SUPER sale into my cart that is supposed to be 70% off with the purchase of 4 of the new Release items. Only one thing is showing the proper discount. Everything else is at 44% instead of the % off it should be.

I have 4 new releases from the sale, but none of the items in the category get reduced:

edit: The dog is also in Fast Grab which is why I think he's the only one with any kind of reduction.

I can confirm - adding 4 new releases from the Are You Feeling Super sale should reduce any of the Featured Related Items from that sale to 70% off but most of them aren't getting the 70% off in the cart.

Untick the "Hide Items I Own" checkbox, and some should show up a bit down the page. I got the DM's Fit 'n Sexy Bundle myself, because it spent waaay too much time on my wishlist already.

EDIT: Investigating a bit further, it seems like the products that are also DAZ Original are excluded from the sale, only the "pure" Marforno and DM products are included.

Ah that was little help as just increased the items vastly

but manually typing Marforno in the Artists filter worked as it did not by default appear in the dropdown and indeed some things  I didn’t own
