So when will we get Cat 8?

But really, why don't we have an "animal maker" tool?  How hard can this be?  Every individual animal figure that comes out (and rarely as they do) just feels like nickel-and-diming.

You know...let me choose.  2 legs. Or 4 legs + bat wings.  6 legs with two pairs of forelegs and lung intake along the shoulders (sound familiar?).  8 legs with 3 pairs of hind legs.  2 legs with a lizard head and bird wings.  4 legs with 2 heads, a double-spine with user-specified number of vertabrae, and ending in a double prehensile tail.  With scales, or with fur.  Or feathers.  Fur on top of head, spines along the back, and feathers on the wings.  Scales on belly, leathery skin on back.

Whatever I can imagine, I should be able to create.  Then we don't have to whine for Cat 8.  We can make our own cats.  Or Cat-deer.  Or turtle-ducks.  Or rabbaroos.  Or polarbear dogs!  Bonus if anybody gets my references.

Lovely idea, but there's a reason it doesn't exist. Because the results would look TERRIBLE. People have tried vaguely similar ideas and it never works out because by the time you make it generic enough to work, it... looks generic.

I mean, anyone could, right now, grab, say, a metaball modeler and blob on a bunch of legs and whatnot. Then tile in some leathery skin or whatnot. Do some basic rigging, and there you go.

It just... would look really bad.

All the custom details and bends that bend RIGHT take a lot of work, and a lot of it ends up particular to a very specific shape.

The old MilCat looks pretty good once you get fur onto it. Still legacy rigging, though.

This. And the shape is more realistic than the Hivewire cat, unfortunately.

...which is why, for now, I still use it even though it's been around for over 15 years..

Not really that impressed with the Hivewire version.

We've had three dragons, two horses, two big cats, and two dogs plus a bunch of other nice critters by AM.  Crikey we even have a new Cow based off Horse 2, why not an updated small cat?

Cat 8 is going to be the most realistic cat ever...

...which means it will come when it wants to, not when you want it to.

You just need to render a patch of sunlight coming through a window and the cat will be there, whether you want it in the scene or not.

Maybe Cat8 just disagrees making her a toy for us und keeps herself hidden on intent?

Perhaps we need to start rendering more boxes? Kittehs just love boxes. And maybe add a bit of catnip for good measure, that oughta get Cat 8's attention.

If they release Cat 8, it's going to be the starting screen of Daz 4.12.

Just everytime you load the program; there's the damned cat.

An open box would work too

    Exactly.

And sometimes we'll try to pose her and she's going to walk out of the scene instead.

Except when we don't want her in the scene, then she'll be popping up everywhere.

And of course leaving fur all over the scene to make it a mess. Riversoft and Sickleyield will have to create "Lint Roller 8" to undo the damage.

She'll knock things off our tables, so none of our set pieces are safe anymore.

And just when we're ready to go to bed and shut down Daz Studio, she'll decide that's when she wants to play and start a fight with Daz Dog 8.

<snrk> Could be worse... the cat could be lying (or stamping its paw) on the keyboard.
