Is 4.11 out of Beta?

I can't find a press release, but when I go to Daz as if I'm a new user, it only has 4.11 and not 4.10. I also noticed every product on the Daz store under "Compatable Software," is for Daz 4.11 and not 4.10. Just wondering becauase I know the new RTX Nvidia cards were working well in 4.11 from what the Beta users had said.

And I"ve completely lost my connections to everything.  I have stuff on separate drives and now nothing works.  Absolutely nothing.  And I don't know now to fix it.  My pc can't even find my files for it.  i'm totally freaking out.  I don't even know what to do. Its apparently installed the newest version to a different spot and I have no idea where it put it.  Or why its not connecting everything together as it should.

According to the sticky thread in the Daz Studio forum, yes, 4.11 is out of beta as of today.

I always uncheck install after download for this exact reason and I always check show hidden in DIM.

This may sound like a terrible question, but sometimes when we panic we don't always think clearly. Have you gone into Daz preferences/content manager and told it where your installed files are (drives other than C:)  If Daz is pointed in the right direction and not 'finding them I woould do the following.

#1 In the search bar type system restore or Create a restore point. #2 create a restore point (in case you need it). #3 repeat 3 1 but choose system restore. See images for next steps, you may know these steps but others may not. Always before you open DIM or download files, create a restore point so you can go back to the day of the nightmare. If you don't you are forced to go back to an earlier time and have to download stuff you already downloaded but that is better than the ungodly mess you are describing. I would unplug externals and restore your C

Did you get the option to uncheck the update so it would not install or is this some sort of auto update we cannot control.

ArtAngel, it came into my DIM as an update, so I just installed it from there.

Thanks. Good to know. Still haven't installed Daz on my PC#1. Nice to know we still have a choice. Maybe I'll create a restore point and give it a shot after I read some comments on this or other 4.11 threads.

With the heads up from the forum, I simply unchecked auto isntall so I could install the main 4.11 first.  Then followed with the dForce, etc.

Fired it up & loaded an earlier scene clicked render and Yowzah!!!

I checked a couple times that I was using Iray defaults and was & noticing a 5X+ speed increase at least. Had to try something a bit more demanding so loaded a LAMH figure.  2-3 Min renders.  Have some firefly issues to track down, but I'm pretty impressed:

BTW, just an FYI....the new release version installs the CMS as well, so no need to go looking for that. If a release version has ever done that before, I don't recall it. Nice, nonetheless.

In Studio Edit / Preferences / Content tab / Content Directory Manager, expand DAZ Studio Format and Poser Formats, add the paths to your content.

I noticed a lot of fireflies too with 4.11.

I renamed the DS 4.10 folder before installing 4.11 to prevent DIM from uninstalling the previous version, so now I've got both versions installed. I tried loading the same scenes into each version, and quite a few of them end with some pretty bad fireflies in 4.11. Latest nvidia studio drivers installed this morning.  Also, unlike some people, I find 4.11 to be quite a bit slower (the beta I downloaded a while back was the same, so I never bothered using it).

Wow, I just used the included de-noiser and ran an old scene I did that took a long time to render before, let it cook for 1 minute with the denoiser on (but really not much difference than result at 30 seconds) and I'm amazed.  Very happy with the speed improvements!

That annoying grouping issue that showed up during the G3 cycle seems like it might be fixed as well. Took forever to group my G3, G8 females.

Thank you!  I did get it sorted, something apparently changed the name of my external drive. (didn't even know that was possible and couldn't figure out how to rename it back, so I had to go through and point everything to the new drive name.  All the files are still there and its working correctly. (thank God I almost had a heart attack lol)  Took me about 3 hours to figure that one out lol.  You would think that would be obvious but I honestly had no idea that was even possible and I know I didn't change it

I've also noticed an issue with Fireflies.  Far more frequent and difficult to get rid of in 4.11

have you gone and downloaded and installed the newest gfx drivers? I'm not having that problem.

ETA: I just checked & I still have the DS 4.9.3.166 Win 64 installer, so I guess I can remove 4.11 and reinstall that version if there's problems?

I would like to do this with my 4.9x.* Which file am I looking for? I am paranoid about doing the wrong thing, with some justification. Weird & hard to fix things have happened when I don't have very clear step by step instructions for computer stuff. I do have the 4.11 beta & haven't had problems the few times I've used it

*I nover installed 4.10 because I read so many posts about 4.10 issues, even long after the full release that I didn't want to try it

Do you have an Nvidia graphics card? If so, update the drivers. The oldest driver that I have working with 4.11 is v418.81. Others have had success with drivers newer than that. I'd give that a try first.

The only way to go back to an older version of Daz Studio is to save the files before you install the update. (I archive the new files when they become available. I use DIM and it's easy to determine which, as the updated files show up in DIM as Product Updates.)

Sorry, Daz doesn't let you do this. This has been a topic of discussion, but obviously they are not going to change this policy.

Well if you have the 4.10 install files it's easy.

I installed using the DIM and now have both versions of Studio available. I can run either and both seem to use the plugins, content etc. Please, can someone provide a link to the instructions for the new features?
  • PetercatPetercat Posts: 2,322

    Curious...
If someone has copies of older versions of Studio, can they share them with other users who  want them?
As long as no paid content is included?
If "NO!!!", I would like to know the reasons behind that decision.

No, you’re not allowed to distribute the program AFAIK.

I like what I'm reading about some of the improvements, but I am a little nervous about upgrading.  IIRC, someone or more than one had pokethrough issues with 4.11 they did not have with 4.10.  I also experienced many months ago with the 4.11 beta and stopped using it due to that.  Was that resolved?

OK, I clicked on the links to download via DIM, and there is NOTHING THERE. I've clicked on Display Hidden, I've clicked on the setting for public build, Nada. Whiskey Tango Foxtrot? I've got the manual files, but I'm afraid that if I install them, God knows if my crap will work after that.

Just go to the main page and dl manually.

That wasn't the question. If somebody made the mistake of not getting the installer they wont have it. And if you are new to Daz Studio, if you sign up today, you are not going to have access to it.
