So, UP #4014, a 4-8-8-4 Big Boy, moved out of the Cheyenne WY shops under her own power yesterday, and is scheduled to make an appearance in Ogden UT next weekend for the 150th Anniversary of the Transcontinental Railroad.

Anyways, I think it'd be a nice touch if Daz had an 'Old West' sale to commemorate the event. While it may be of lesser interest to the Daz crowd outside of the US of A, well it was a big deal back then, and well the Old West is a favorite theme of movies, art, etc.
I'd probably flip out if someone released a Daz version of the Big Boy, but I'm not holding my breath. Anyways, the 4-4-0 locomotive is more relevant to the anniversary anyways. They have two operational ones at the Golden Spike historical site.

I think we'll all be riding high speed trains everywhere in 20 years. But people won't ride trains while violent crimes are punished so lightly all around the world. I sure won't.
I have a game/simulator called "Cities:Skylines", available via Steam. They have tons of mods for train types, and I've been meaning to build a city with no direct automobile paths across the entire infrastructure. You still need autos for certain things, like access to schools, hospitals, police/fire, the cemetary and landfills, etc; but given those requirements, I'd really like to test my suppositions and learn the challenges of a city with end-to-end coverage including only rail (rail of any kind) and walking paths and with only very localized road coverage.
I suspect that my costs will rise with such a design, but I'd like to do a feasibility study on it anyway.

As I said, keeping the focus a bit broad opens up the possibilities immensely. Railroading in general (not just 1869 rail), etc. etc.
As for new stuff, well if such a sale happened it wouldn't be the first time the new stuff in a sale was a bit off topic, but if the 'parameters' of the sale are kept a bit wide, yeah anything is possible.

No, it's much more continental European design, although I couldn't say where exactly. While there's perhaps a tiny hint of that look in some niche or early British steam locomotives, it's not at all common for British steam locomotives to look anything like that.
You'd only be likely to see something like that in the UK if a European locomotive had been shipped over in the preservation era. Even if it were, it would most likely be on a narrow gauge line - while a huge number of standard gauge locomotives survived because of the Barry scrapyard, many narrow gauge lines didn't have the same boon and had to reacquire motive power by shipping suitable locomotives from abroad.
I have a couple of versions of the 4-4-0 from Renderosity and other places, including the General you mentioned (which is free). They also have a 4-6-2 and perhaps a few other engines, but since this thread is suggesting an idea for a Daz3D sale, while those are relevant to the anniversary, yeah...

Since Promontory UT is located about 90 miles from Daz3D HQ, and since there will be a lot of stuff going on next week for the anniversary, well I wouldn't be surprised if a few Daz employees would be interested in the festivities. Hence my other reason for mentioning this.
I may try to snap a few pics of the Big Boy as it passes through Weber Canyon next week, just for fun. I did manage to snap a few pics of #4014 as it was on it's way to Cheyenne several years ago, being towed by some diesel locos. Even 'cold', #4014 still looked quite impressive as it passed by at a rail crossing I was standing at. The locomotive should look much more impressive under steam power. #844 will be double heading with the Big Boy, so that should make for an even more impressive display of steam!
They took #4014 out for a test drive yesterday.
Today she left Cheyenne, and is slowly making her way to Ogden UT, with some stopovers for the steam fans...

The one thing to keep in mind is these are user-to-user forums, so unless you give feedback in a ticket, the message may never be seen by Daz.
I realize its a diesel, but a Sant Fe F or E unit in Warbonnet colors would be superb. Imagine a whole streamliner train with period cars, like the Vistadome - Santa Fe, UP, Northern Pacific... It would look awesome in a 1940s or 1950s theme.
