Hi everyone,
Just curious to find out which do you use more, Genesis 3 Male or Genesis 8 Male?

Genesis 8 male :)
G3M - because I have no G8M characters. Have not yet found a reason to move away from G3M. I have a few G8F characters so I did buy some of the add-ons (Zev0 packs, etc.) for her but I still use G3F too.
Genesis 8 Male.
G3M, partly because I have a lot of stuff for him and it's easier to back-convert G8M stuff to him as I buy it than it is to forward-convert the tons of stuff I have for G3M.
Genesis 8 male.
I like both. I also like other generations. And I love the clones. Bring them on. Clones/swaps matter especially https://www.daz3d.com/genesis-3-character-uvs-for-genesis-8-male because I prefer some of the G3 skins but the facial capabilities of G8 in MHO are far better. If you render the back of a character, fighting walking etc, the face is not relevant and the G8 loses its buying power. If on a tight budget, there are youtube vids and forum posts on how to convert G3 morphs to G8 (good if you favor a particular character in an older line, and if you're not busy/lazy like me) this could work for you if you bought oder and newer generations, based on the character. The truth is artists come and go and so do their work. If you like something buy it because I have a shopping list a mile long of products I bought, loved and still love that are now a 404 because the artist left DAZ (some breathing - some not ... deep sigh). I bought all the characters I needed regardless of generation and bought the UVs /clones/swaps to make whatever generation worked, because eventually you need to have a close up of a scream of terror or a scream of delight & for that the back never works well. For close up facial expressions you can't beat a G8. But for the record G8's are not my favorite characters.
I always use the latest Genesis generation unless I can't, eg characters like JoeQuick's Ribbits and Toon Chimp.
I still use G3 Male & Female, mostly because I have lots of G3 add-ons,morphs, tools etc. that I would have to purchase again for G8 to get the same level of adaptability and there are still loads of G3 items on my wishlist so I have been delaying the G8 purchases, I'll probably look to catch up at some point and there are some very nice outfits/characters for G8 that I wouldn't mind adding to my content, but as I have recently got the G8 to G3 clothes converters I should be able to use a lot of the clothes on G3 anyway I also got the G3-G8/G8-G3 pose converter in the grab bag sale so I can use the G8 poses that come with vehicles/sets etc. which extends G3's life a bit more
I'll will admit to picking up V8 and a character or two in recent sales/giveaways and one of Josh Crockets monsters that I had my eye on that works as a stand-alone item without all the G8 morphs, characters and clothes, so the G8 upgrade has just started, but will be going slow for some time to come I think, maybe if they do the G8's free with G9 like they did with G8/G3 I might be tempted but we'll have to see.
If you're asking a question as what to target as a content developer, you should be ALWAYS developing for the new generation, especially if the current model is years in. You don't want to put yourself in a situation where you make your products two generations old when the new model will eventually be released.
That's not to say you **couldn't** release an older version, but the older version should never be your focus.
Quite a lot of people use both pretty much interchangably. If they do anything like series stuff, a lot will depend on when they developed a given character. And it took a while for various utilities to be released for both.
For my own part, I find it marginally easier to find G3 skins with 3DL materials, but there are converters.
Mostly using G3M (and G3F) since I have more content for them (characters, morphs like 'growing up', 'fit control' and things like autofit clones).
I've started collecting some G8M (and F) characters though and although the differences are small, it is a superior figure, particularly for expressions.
I'll still buy G3 stuff to use but I'm now using G3 and G8 together.
Genesis 8 Male
G3M. Like others, I have more content. I just didn't have the budget for a new generation when G8 came out, and was just really hitting my stride with G3 around that time.
G8 Male because they are so useful
I use both, as they equally have features that the other lacks, in my opinion. I can achieve much better/unique characters facially with G3, but it depends on what type of scene I am composing. I like the luxury of having both to choose from and wouldn't give up one for the other. It took me a while to get on board with G8M, but I got there in the end. Thankfully after hearing that G9M 'MAY' not be coming out for some time, I don't have the worry to amass all the add-ons and characters and what-nots all over again. Another year breathing space would be great
Both.
Genesis 8 Male and dForce
g3m, reasons as others alreay mentioned
G8M.
Actually, I use almost exclusively G8 charcters. When the new generation was introduced I jumped in with both feet. Now that I've been doing this Daz thing for a few years and gone through that experience, I may be more selective when Gen9 rolls around, I may weigh the costs vs. benefits more closely.
This. Nothing has been "catchy" enough or "original" enough coming out for G8 that will make me go over the edge. Everything that has come out IMO has been more of the same, just another variation. How many different space armor suits do I really need ?
The last thing that truly excited me was the new version of DAZ Dog.
I still use a lot of G2M, so I can apply the morphs from https://www.daz3d.com/extraordinary-men-for-genesis-2-male-s-volume-1 and https://www.daz3d.com/extraordinary-men-for-genesis-2-male-s-volume-2 . Such great characterful faces - if they ever release a G3M/G8M version of that product I'll be all over it like a rash.
Other than that, mostly G3, sometimes G8.
I use whichever character works best for the particular scene I have in mind. Sometimes the decision is based on available props/clothing, sometimes on looks (I've got a few g3m that make excellent bad guys due to scars/makeup options, not many g8 ones), and sometimes it's based on how close to the camera they'll be. If I'm doing a wide shot with several characters well in the background, I'll use g3 or g2m (usually g2 for the lower resource hit). I'm the same way with g3f/g8f. I use both generation pretty much interchangeably, but I've also invested in the various tools to make it easier to move assets back and forth between them.
The truth is is that it's easy to back-convert to G3 and forward convert to G8, so you might even want to try that with your own products. Make for G8 and then back convert it to G3 and make for both. It's pretty quick and simple.
Oh, and btw, THANK YOU! for making products for the males. You don't even know how much I appreciate it ;)

I use G3M the most but my G8M collection is catching up. Unless I'm in Poser, then it's G2M and Mike 4.
Just remember that the opinons of people in the forum aren't alway reflective of the buying habits of customers.
I do think that there are a lot of fans of G3, but personally I think focusing on G8 will be more profitable. G8 will have a much longer fun and more male figures than the G3 lineup.
I use both G8M and G3M equally, mixing and matching their clothes and hair. Both generations have characters I like to use, but where possible I try to use dForce clothing rather than conforming with some exceptions, like skin tight shirts, socks, gloves, etc.
