There are some things I feel I need to change on nearly every character, but I'm not sure if my image of a person is skewed or if other people notice the same things I do.

Every head looks a little too small
    Most eyes are too large
    Most irises are too large
In most cases feet, especially on the men, are too small. Hands too a lot of the time.

    Is it just me? LOL

Eyes - nope, not just you.

Irises - not noticed it particularly; it changes size.

Heads, Hands and Feet - yeh some seem to stand out more.

The thing I always find most noticable, is that G3 and G8 figures are slightly cross-eyed. Funny enough, on close-ups, it becomes less noticable, probably because it gives the impression that the character is focussing on the camera, making my subconciousness accept it as "normal". But on any shot more distant than a bust, I just have to correct the eyes by roughly 7-11 percent. (gladly there is a cross-eyed parameter)

Mostly I feel there aren’t enough appendages, and what’s with the only one head... and no eye stalks... Megh, humans and their earthcentric point of view.

    ...yes

With regard to the small heads you are absolutely right. It started with Genesis 2, got slightly better with G3 and G8, but certain vendors apparently haven't changed anything about their templates since G2.

I see it exactly the other way round with the irises: The G8 base figures' irises, at least their early releases, imo are too small. But as for the hands and feet, I agree with you. To put it exaggerated: The men very often have dainty feet and hands (worst with Genesis 1), while the women have 'toilet lid hands', as we say in Germany, and much too long feet. Why? I'm always fiddling with the controls to correct that.

I was really noticing this the other day.  I have an Asian G8 character and was shocked at how tiny her head was and how big her breasts and thighs were.  Totally out of proportion. I traded her body with a Handspan Studio character as hers are always a nice size (and the heads always match the bodies too).
