Depends on population size.
Not really.
I am not sure over at Renderosity how many times, if ever, I have seen a product with 30 reviews.
I use the rendo reviews to learn if products made for Poser work in DAZ. PAs there often just tell us " not tested in DAZ", but if reviews say, it works here, I'll buy.
I've seen some with over 100. But these days it's rare to see products with more than a few.
I was comparing the list price when introduced with the list price today.
No discounted prices quoted.
To me it seems that with G8 they rushed out a number of assets. Specially in the character and outfit categories. At least compared to the quality we had with G3. As for assets optimization for GPU rendering I always found it very bad. That's why in my opinion using the scene optimizer addon is the only way to work with DAZ Studio.
That said, comparing different CG marketplaces I believe DAZ is always offering a good ratio between quality and price. Apart for the interactive license that I personally find expensive and non-sensed since DAZ assets are not game ready, even if you use the scene optimizer.
It varies by product--some new ones are fantastic, at least the recent G3/G8 ones, since I don't do G8. Some are great. Some aren't, like the Newly Mad Kennady & Regan twins, who looked odd on the MM page--the head of at least one seemed way too big for the body. So I checked the product page to see if it was just that 1 promo. It was the same in all of them. Not just size either, it turned out--they all looked like oversized adult female heads on middle school age (12-13 years old) bodies. This is not typical of the previous Daz teen base or character heads--their makeup presets and head morphs look teenage.
I would be worried about fake or inflated reviews. It happens on websites that sell retail goods.
Been working with a lot of older figures lately and I gotta say...some of the outfits I have for Genesis 2 Male/Mike 6 are just so good. They must have been made before vendors figured it wasn't worth the time to spend on guy's clothes >:[, and yet, I don't mind paying for nice stuff. Luthbel comes to mind, as does so many others whose works are a bit more expensive, but worth the price just because they're so nice.

you can probably blame Marvellous Designer for the trigons
that may improve now it has a remesher
Out of Touch has an awesome G2 men's suit... the shirtcollar lays properly - I swear I almost wept tears of radiant happiness :-) I am still waiting for technology to improve to the point where men's dress pants fall properly, and provide options for wide cuts as well as narrow... sigh.
The one at the other place? I've been eyeballing that one ;)

---and I left a review. That's how happy I was. I used capitals and everything... and wishlisted everything else they had.
That's why I wish there was a way to leave reviews here. I know, it's a pain, and it has potential downsides... but the forums are not an efficient way of passing information. This week is pretty much the first time I've been 'on' them... and I've been buying here for years.
Well, ya made up my mind for me. I snagged it.
It's a shame that there is so little (really good) men's clothing that we have to practically go on scavenger hunts to buy some for old figures...*sigh*. I already own most of the stuff from here that's good. The recent flash sale today of G2 stuff narrowed even that down :P.

Then I have done a good deed for the day... unless, of course, you didn't really want it. ;-) I just wish there would be enough of us that vendors would do more for the 'past' models... other than skins and morphs for V4. Which I still buy for the skins.
Nope, I did. It was in my wishlist. LOL Just hadn't pulled the trigger yet ;)
