What a wonderful surprise to have this show up in March Madness! It went into the cart within 15 minutes of Daz Midnight, and was bought and paid for by 12:30 am Daz Time™! I'm so happy you updated Project Hairy for the G3/G8 UVs, @Jepegraphics. Thanks again.

Thank you for your kind words and your support, my dear.  - Just to say, it's not an update, it's new, thoroughly handpainted in Cinema4D's Bodypaint and Photoshop, with support for gens now, there's even a free Dicktator Addon over there at DeviantArt. smiley It also was not always a fun experience during the production, I had to solve some really nasty problems, one small update is still to come. But I hope people will have fun and that a lot more boys and men don't look that (body) shaven anymore in renders! cheeky

Oops. Sorry, I didn't mean to imply I thought it was the old product reworked. I'm just saying I'm delighted you decided to create and release this product for the newer figures!

There will definitely be a lot more hairy men in my renders now.

I think the practicality tilts towards doing fibermesh for beards and geoshell for body hair.

With body hair, you have a huge number of hairs, few of which are often in view. Bodyhair is often covered by clothing, which brings up collision and pokethrough issues with fibermesh.

With beards, you often want a lot of dimension, for anything except very close stubble. Beards aren't usually subject to collision/pokethrough (at least not until it gets very long). And in close up headshots, which are common, any lack of dimension is going to become more pronounced.

My findings on Fibermesh hair solutions too are issues with making sure the hair doesn't collide with other sides or when posed the hair fibers are stretched and look horrible. Not to mention the tools in ZBrush for styling fiber mesh are sort of wild and unpredictable.  I wanted to make arm and leg hair for my upcoming Gino but the end result wasn't anything I'd put on market.  I've seen some really BAD attempts.  No way would I venture to try to bring something that horrible to market, I wouldn't even give it away.  I ended up with pubic, underarm (thanks to Redz for her help on that), scruff and eyebrows that are just passable to me.  Now with Jens back in the game with this new pack I may not have a merchant resource here but I can point folks to his product if they want really good hairy options that you can put clothing over without the already mentioned poke through issues.

I bought this the second it hit Jep!  Thanks so much!

If anyone has the time or inclination, could you do a render of the back hair? Thanks in advance!

Can the hair be also applied as a L.I.E. layer? Does it have to be applied via geoshell?

I thought I would do a render showing how 3d the hair looks especially on the chest:

Technically, if you have the hair material you could apply it as LIE.

But the advantage of doing it as a geoshell is it can be positioned sligthly above the skin and therefore look more real, and not be affected of other changes to the skin settings.

Isn't there also a hit to loading a scene when there are LIE materials? I seem to recall the LIE images are stored in the temp folder, and are deleted when you close Daz Studio, (or maybe the scene they're used in].,) If so, the temp images will need to be recreated every time you open the scene.

To use LIE, if you prefer that to GeoShells, you would add a layer of color, then add a mask layer to your color layer, and finally, browse to the opacity maps for the hair you want to use and load those. (Assuming, of course, that PH78 works the same as PH456.) As I haven't played with this yet, I don't know if there are changes to other settings besides Base Color and Cutout Opacity… The thing is, though, it will be faster and easier to use the presets, and you can change the Base Color for the entire GeoShell at one time in the Surfaces->Editor, instead of opening every image to make changes. And you can hide the GeoShell in the Scene Tab with one click.

I had the inclination, but didn't have the time yesterday. Most of the hairs do not have back hair except for right at the bottom, but the variations of option 6 do. This is 6d and the left, and 6 on the right.
