What is the deal with those creepy DAZ YouTube commercials?

    The only thing that strikes me is... Why is DAZ paying YouTube to show us commercials for a product we're already addicted to? You'd think they could set it up to exclude people who have watched enough "how to" videos related to using DAZ Studio.

    First one is weird and kind of gross but within acceptable boundaries. Boxing one is funny but stupid. Dancing one is funny and charming, except for the awful plastic skin on DJ girl. Clown one is boring but has interesting visual effects (inflating balloon is maybe a dforce effect run in reverse?) and is fairly inoffensive as clown stuff goes. Telescope one is a big ol' pile of NOPE with NOPE frosting.

    Two things I have noticed recently about Amazon marketing.

    1) In December, Amazon's home page was showing me a new Recommendations category--Things You Already Bought. Why? So I don't forget how much I love Patricia Briggs' werewolves? Because a duplicate of the mini red pointy hat I got for Halloween might be a unique Secret Santa gift?

    2) Just this morning I noticed that when I close Amazon ads on my Kindle Fire, I get a list of "reasons I don't want to see this"--not uncommon with ad-targetting schemes. One of the options is "Already bought it."

    But yes, I could live the rest of my life happily--and still spend money on this site--without seeing another of those Daz ads.

    ...and they're still using the old Mil Cat. 

    They've updated the Dragon, the Horse, the Dog, The Big Cat, but not the Domestic Cat.

    I saw those and didn't like the impression they left- I think a collection of stills with some of the awesome renders would be impressive. The dinosaur animation they have is nice, though.

    If it wasn't for this thread I would never have noticed these commercials. I am rarely on YouTube more than a few minutes on any given day, and I tend to mute my speakers and mentally zone out if YouTube forcefeeds me any commercials prior to the video I want to see. So almost no commercials have the chance to annoy me.

    These videos are a little on the oddball side, but they don't bother me or strike me as false advertising. It looks to me as if someone behind the scenes was given a directive to show that Studio can be used to make artwork beyond cheesecake and pinups. In that sense, the videos succeeded.
