3d Content Database 2?
Played with the 3d Content Database 2 a while back, came on to buy it, my downloads folder is quite full... and it's not up on the site any more.
Where did it go? Is there anywhere I can get it?
That program was so useful...

Your question is old, but I'd like to ask for the same information.
Is there any way to get the 3D Content Database 2?
It really was an easy to use and very much appreciated tool.
Thank you.
If you already bought this item from DAZ 3D, you will be able to find it in your Product Library, and you can download it from there.
This item first appeared in 2007, that is whn I bought it, and it doesn't seem to have been updated, there is no longer a store page here now, so I would say that it is unavalible.
Thank you, Jimmy.
Well ... I bought this item back in 2009 from DAZ, but can't find it in my Product Library.
I took some years off from the rendering-hobby completely, and want to come back again. I still have the Content Database running on a very old computer, but it's just the already installed product, and I can't find the install file, which is necessary to install the program on my current computer. As said: I bought the program once from DAZ, but now, unfortunately, it doesn't appear in my Product Library any longer.
Some things got dropped on the floor when the entire DAZ website and store was overhauled a couple of years ago. (I lost a handful of my very first purchases from the Product Library listing.) All my orders were still there, though, so I found the orders showing the stuff I'd bought and raised a support ticket.
Try using just one word from the name to look for it and use the search box in your product library. If you bought it, then it should be in there.
Good advice, Kitty. Thank you very much. I'll try this, too.
@Chohole
Yes, I know. It *should* be in there, but it *is not*.
I found the order from which it is clear that I bought the item from the DAZ 3D shop back in the year 2009, and just wrote a support ticket.
I hope they can help me out.
Any idea if they recovered these items for the other accounts also? I also bought the Content Database but it's not in my Library either, so it looks like it may affect all acounts.
It's missing for me, too. I was just looking for it because I plan on cleaning the PC and need it for reinstall aftwards (becasue I just realized it's not installed at the moment and can't find it in my archives). I hope this isn't a coming trend. It was not a nice thing to see a paid-for item missing.
I have reported this.
Could you add a feature to your Account Manager for DAZ 3D? Exporting XML format files that are compatible with the Content Database 2?
I'm in contact with the support staff, trying to solve the issue. I'll report on it's outcome.
Will take a look at it. Some data (prices and stuff) will be missing though as the Account Manager doesn't collect these.
Do you have the Content Database installed in Win 7 or newer? I recall she discontinued it because she wouldn't pay for a Win 7 compatible database update (too expensive). Just tried to install it in Win 8.1 however, and it seems to work OK here.
I actually have a Content Database program on the drawing board myself, which will use data from the DAZ Account Manager as well as the new one for Rendo. Can't say for sure when it's ready though.
ISTR that it worked on Win7 for some but not for others.
OK, sounds more like local Win 7 problems then. If the database wasn't Win 7 compatible it shouldn't work for anyone.
Just did a test in Win 7/64 Pro, no problems here it seems.
I have my own content database manager. I named it 3D Librarian. I was working on it back in 2011. I pulled it off the net and stopped offering it after not having much luck in finding beta testers and having a few issues with Free Pascal/Lazaru's components. I offered it for Mac OS X, Linux, and Windows. I still use it to this day. It helps me keep my celebrity directory up-to-date.
I can use SQLite or Firebird databases.
It was modeled after the old DAZ 3D store. I can browse my content like you can on the store.
It has a feature to save websites using templates of the content I have in the database.
It has a system of XML import/export compatible with that of the 3D Content Database. I was using it with the Orca Tools.
l recall that one. I think the last thing I heard of it was that your server was hit by a lightning of something?
BTW, (for both programs) is it required that all fields are present in the XML file, or is it enough to include those which contain data?
Two issues cropped up at about the same time - some people were having real issues getting it to work in Windows 7, and DAZ went through a number of changes to the store. Orcasoul had committed to generating a store-scraper script to populate the database and that was turning into a cross between a full-time job and a nightmare. And then, sometime before the conversion to the current store, IIRC, there were enough changes that you could no longer drag and drop web pages into the database. That's pretty much when I quit using it, as having to copy/paste each field was just too labor intensive.
I live in constant danger of lightning, but this didn't happen. It could be an off hand remark I made about the lightning messing with my computing time, forcing me to shutdown.
As far as I can see, no. I did an export of a product just now with 3D Librarian and I see only fields with values. The Orca' Tools XML outputs are the same, no empty fields.
I couldn't find my notes on the XML stuff, that's odd, it should be with my 3D Librarian files. Hmm....
I still have it somewhere, but IIRC, it had a fairly small number of products that it could hold per catalog, and was dependent on a lot of second party programs items for most of it's functions.
Any idea if they recovered these items for the other accounts also? I also bought the Content Database but it's not in my Library either, so it looks like it may affect all acounts.
There are a lot of us who'd buy your DB in a heartbeat... espcially if it imported info directly from your other tools. Of course, I'm sure it would help if the companies would stop trying to "improve" their sites and failing so miserably at it.
I would love for a feature in DS to produce a list of each product in a given scene. But I don't need to want to maintain any database outside of the CMS, since DIM does that pretty well (as long as I leave it alone and don't screw around with it).
I think http://www.daz3d.com/content-gatherer is the closest to that, unfortunately it's harder to trace texture/geometry/morph data back to a product than vice versa.
It was someone else who said that about the lightning hitting your server, delaying or stopping development of the program or something like that. Guess either I or the other person misunderstood something.
As for the XML elements/fields, it looks like OrcaSoul's programs just adds a zero as value to an element, instead of omitting it. I've just tested omitting elements though, does not seem to affect 3DCDB, it just displays a zero in the corresponding field. So I'll try that first.
Well actually, on the account side the DAZ site has improved a lot since they shifted to Magento, and with better standardization, which makes things a bit easier. As for Rendo, they also seem to have a stable setup on the account side now. So I hope there won't be any major changes at least the next couple of years. The database will be independent of what they do on the sites which means I have full control over it, so I don't expect any unpleasant surprises with that program.
Numeric fields in 3D Librarian will always carry a value, no blanks. I am sure that I took that into account. If a numeric field is blank during import I am sure I test for that and use a zero.
I actually expanded on the XML on my end. 3D Librarian has a notes feature that can handle HTML, in a note there will be a lot of EOLs, etc., so I had to make sure that the XML output could handle it by using CDATA. Just mentioning it, in case you find yourself in a similar need.

Chalk me up as another person who's discovered 3D Content Database 2 missing from my Product library. The PL search only turns up the original version, purchased in 2007, but the new one, bought in 2009, only shows up when I go to the actual invoice. THAT link actually takes me to the product, however, and the download link on the actual invoice works perfectly. One thing I did notice is that my price on that invoice was $24.95 discounted to $19.98, so I'm thinking that there may have been some kind of upgrade offer that's bolluxing things up.
Not sure if I expressed myself clearly. Take this piece of XML from one of the files generated by OrcaSoul's program:
<vendor>DAZ 3D</vendor>
<productid>153</productid>
<productdescription>Stunning textures to expand the possibilities of this popular hairstyle.</productdescription>
<regularprice>9.93</regularprice>
<addtowishlist>0</addtowishlist>
<saleprice>1.74</saleprice>
<pcitem>0</pcitem>
<pcprice>1.74</pcprice>
<yourprice>0.87</yourprice>
<dateacquired>2011-09-07</dateacquired>
<downloaded>1</downloaded>
<purchased>1</purchased>
If I remove some elements, so it looks like this, for example:
<vendor>DAZ 3D</vendor>
<productid>153</productid>
<productdescription>Stunning textures to expand the possibilities of this popular hairstyle.</productdescription><dateacquired>2011-09-07</dateacquired>
<downloaded>1</downloaded>
<purchased>1</purchased>
...3DCDB still seems to parse the data correctly, and just displays a "0" in the fields corresponding to the missing elements.
Does 3D Librarian handle this the same way - or does it need all the elements to parse the data correctly?
Anyway, I guess it's better to continue this conversation in private though so please send an email to [email protected] so I have an address I can reply to. I'll send you an XML sample tomorrow then which you can test, to see how it works...
Yes, 3D Librarian should handle it just fine. It does however required some values, like the name of the product:
<title>M3 Millennium Horse Centaur</title>
I will email you from now on.

Lucky you. In my case, it doesn't show up in the PL, but it's in the "My Orders" archive. The actual invoice for it does have a Download button, but if I click on it, it opens just another page with the description of the program and a picture of it, but no further Download button. So, my attempt to download the file comes to an end at this named page.
Crissie from the support staff wrote to me that she is aware of where the problem is and that she handed it over to the repair guys to fix it ... hopefully they will do so.
