M3 conversions

sapatsapat Posts: 1,735

I have GenX and the add on but have never figured them out.  I need directions that are easier to understnad for me.  I have a ton of clothes for M3 that I'd like to use in the newer ppl...even G3M (G8M) would be a dream but probably not possible.  Is there a turtorial anywehre that gives a step by step of the process of converting the M3 clothes to newer figures?

You would use Wear Them All - Autofit Clones Expansion for Genesis 3 Male(s) and Genesis 3 Female(s) for clothing, not GenX2, that's for character morphs.

wouldn't it be sinmple if there were a list, a compilation, of what is needed for what? I know I have no clue half the time or more and haave to keeo asking . I see the same quesations over and over.

So..it would be for M3 clothes to fit G/G2?G3/G8 you need the following products ... or thisd or this and that, whatever it may be..
same for morphs, for textures/skins, etc

Wear Them All adds autofit clones, so it's just a matter of selecting the appropriate projection to use for each piece. Haven't used it in a while, but I picked up some classic Luthbel during the PC+ Anniversary sale, so I dusted it off to put Wild Hunt-Wildenlander for M3 on Dante7 (for no particular reason). Came out quite well, even the boots look decent, and very little poke-through anywhere.

I think DAZ Studio should be extended to handle this 'autofitting' business for all those generations much better than it does.

Oh, yeah, right. Didn't read all the fine print.

But... but.. we'd only have to buy one version of anything!

Another option is to get this:

    https://www.daz3d.com/v3-and-m3-shapes-for-genesis

With this you can autofit any M3 item to Genesis, and them Autofit that to G8M or G8F using the Genesis clone inside both of them.

You guuuuuuuys, I have all the stuff you mentioned in each one of y'alls posts!  See, I have all the stuff and obviously I have NO idea to make it work. Me needs a tutorial!!

Also, pardon me for the DUH remark about using GenX to convert clothes.  That's how little I know about that. I don't know anything about shells, clones or projections either.

Yes daveso, it would be absolutely the best thing since sliced bread if there was one of those compilations to let us know every thing we needed to get earlier figures to more current, and what we'd have to have to make the jump from the 'more current' figures to the 3 and 8 figures.  Like you need all this stuff to do this first step, then so on.   I wish daz could handle this in a better way instead of making a bunch of different packs we have to buy to do the things we could probably do with one plugin.  Just select the figure we want to convert from to the one we want to convert to, then select say M3, hightlight all his clothes (or whatever), hit a button to confirm it, and click OK.  . It all would be converted in one step.  You'd also have the option to say I want to go from M3 to Genesis or G2 or G3.  Then you wouldn't have to buy separate plugins or utilities to make incremental jumps from one to the next and so on.  Sorry to the vendors who make all these converters, but one could probably do the job.

I you hear of any tutorials or help things for this conversion for M3 to the 'sort of' current, holler.  I'll keep this thread marked.

  • If you have the wear them all products and they are installed properly, then you just load up the figure you want to use, load up the clothing item, and when the clothing item is being fit to the figure a dialogue box will come up and you select which figure the clothing was originally made for, an optionally what kind of clothing it is. If you are having issues with specific clothing then we might be able to help further.

For batch converting, you are looking Riversoft Art and Sickleyield's converters, such as this one: https://www.daz3d.com/rssy-clothing-converter-from-genesis-to-genesis-8-female however they currently only go back as far as Genesis and it sounds like there might be extra complications going back to generation 4, much less earlier.

(Unimportant, but as far as having things integrated in Studio, versus buying plugins, people do not like having to pay for Studio to have it come with all the plugins. The model of having the free base software and paid for plugins that you can buy only what you want has seemed to be largely preferred, and the same logic follows for having separate plugins for various characters, rather than forcing people to buy one more expensive set at once)

Ok, you mean THAT blue link. blush  I'm going to try that today.  Gonna have to make sure my wear them all's are installed correctly.
