Hot! I was totally looking for StarWar figures and lookalikes... if you didn't create them yourself, where did you purchase the characters from? Haven't been able to find them in the DAZ store. THANK YOU!

I kind of like the camera head light.
At least combined with a decent HDRI.

I am so envious of all your glorious renders! The ones that I do on my Mac all show up grainy even after 10h of overnight renderings :( ... been told that the denoiser works far superior on PCs.

Gym Girl. Rendered in canvas and tonemapped in PS. If you render mirrors, denoiser is your best friend!

I am so irritated now... I set up a render and set it to rendering and after crashing twice it started rendering and while It was rendering I fell asleep I wake up to the cleanest render I have ever done, perfect no blur, no noise and  I can't even save the render... not even with save last render...

Is any part of DS responding? If you are using Windows it should (by default) be a PNG file in

    %AppData%/daz 3d/studio4/temp/render/

(I can't recalll the Mac equivalent)

Where is that in Windows 10? It would be a good thing to know for future reference.

Oh and not a thing was responding, I don't know what i did, but I had corrupted about 5 saves of that character, luckily I had one that was not corrupted so I didn't have to remake her from nothing.

In Windows, under your Users files. Those will be on your C-Drive by default. The full path should look something like this, where username is the name you gave your account:

    C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\DAZ 3D\Studio4\temp\render

(or C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\DAZ 3D\Studio4 Public Build\temp\render for the beta.)

The filename of the render will be "r.png"

Look for that file before you do anything else, assuming you can still browse your computer in explorer. If you have to reboot the computer, find the r.png file before opening Daz Studio, as opening DS will wipe out the old render file. If there is no r.png file in the temp/render folder, then there is no way I know of to restore the render.

It is possible to render to file. You could try doing that when you go to bed. Maybe that will work. It's certainly worth trying.

If there is no r.png file in the temp/render folder, then there is no way I know of to restore the render.

Actually the later versions of DS seem to delete the r.png (as well as the copies in the RenderAlbumTmp folder) when they shut down, instead of when they start up.  Doesn't seem to happen if they crash or are killed though, however the r.png is first written when the render is finished, or whenever you pause it (pausing will save/update the r.png to the state the render is in when you pause) so if DS crashes during a render and it hasn't been paused, nothing will be left apparently.

    Also:

    - the current r.png if any will be deleted as soon as you start a new render.

    - if you allow a render to finish, a copy will be created in the RenderAlbumTmp folder, so that each render you allow to finish during a session will have a copy there with its own name.  However if you cancel a render before it's finished by DS no copy will be created, only the r.png will remain.

If you paste that into the address bar of a file browser window it will take you to the right place - %AppData% expands to the C:/Users/YOU/AppData/Roaming/ part.

How far can one push Daz3D and Iray? This far (see attachement).

Some 121 characters (From G1 to G8) in scene with about ~15 off-camera. DAZ3D consumes about 120GB of RAM and with Iray it goes to 350GB of virtual space. (SubD set to 0) 5 hours for render. (Swapfiles on two SSDs with total size of 321250MB)

Rendered on Core i9-7920X (4,1GHz) with 128GB of RAM.

It seems that DAZ3D is not too efficient with memory allocation, seems to have very large overhead.

Hello friends.. I hope I am not late. I have made few renders on my laptop. It doesn't have Nvidia Card though :(. Sometimes, the images dont render properly and the rendering stops abruptly. I dont want to invest time for rerendering. Here is a render of Hindu God Lord Hanuman with photoshop post work:

@SPadhi89, That's beautiful. Not sure if that's what you were going for, but I love the high contrast, and the colors really make the image "pop."

As for renders stopping abruptly, that is a function of the settings in Render Settings > Progressive Rendering. The default settings are not optimal for renders with dark areas like the image you've posted above. I shared my settings and the reason behind them in last month's new user challenge thread, here. That post includes a acreencap of the settings, but keep in mind, I have an Nvidia card. Rendering CPU Only, you'll probably want to set Max Samples to something in the 1000-2000 range. You can always increase that value, if necessary, from the open render window and hit the Resume button.

@L'Adair Thanks for appreciating the picture. I achieved what I wanted with the raw render. I had to adjust the contrast of the raw render to match the final pic. I have attached the raw render.
