Gift card glitch has me seeing red. GAAAAHHH!!! (Edit: Going to calm down with a cat...)

I bought 2 gift cards with the "still new releases" sale.  One of them was big, and the other was REALLY BIG.  I redeemed them -- and it gave me credit for two of the "big" cards and NONE of the 'REALLY BIG" cards.  They shorted me.  A lot. Like... A lot, a lot. This ticks me off in whole new ways because:

1) I can't afford to just buy all the things I want that are on sale before the sale ends without the REALLY BIG gift card I just bought.  Ordinarily, when store glitches happen (and they do. A lot.) I just buy the stuff while it's still on sale and they reimburse me with store credit.  NOT an option this time. Too much money involved. and

2) I AM SO MAD ABOUT HAVING TO WAIT UNTIL MONDAY when customer service comes back to get this fixed.  My time is ridiculously, extremely, unexplainably limited.  The 20 hours I can render in the next 2 days may be the last I have for another month.  Or two.  Or until June.  Seriously.  Now, thanks to this STUPID gift card glitch, I won't be able to use any of the stuff I just was SUPPOSED to have paid for (with the gift card that has gone MIA) until they fix it. I'm livid.  And I don't get livid often.

I'll screenshot my cart, file a ticket, and on Monday, they'll give me enough store credit to cover the things I would have purchased on sale.  I know this.  DAZ has yet to screw me out of money. I'm just tired of being screwed out of my TIME.

Nothing can really be done until Monday unfortunately. Sorry to hear about the gift card troubles.  I had trouble with the previous gift card sale... The 25 percent off one. I bought an expensive gift card, but forgot to put the coupon in the cart, when I checked out. I didn't realize there was a coupon,  because frequently gift card discounts are automatic.

Unfortunately, for me, I ended up paying full price because gift cards are not refundable, which for me was 75.00 my loss.  I would never have paid full price for a gift card, due to them going on sale frequently enough. I wrote customer service, but did not get any help.

I am now wary of purchasing gift cards here due to this problem, so I feel your pain.

It is probably a long shot, but double check you email to see if there is another message with another code. Sometimes people get two codes for each gift card purchase, and I've heard that sometimes both codes work. Maybe the two codes you redeemed were for the same purchase, and the larger card hasn't been redeemed yet.

  • KaribouKaribou Posts: 1,325

Actually, there were 3 emails sent -- one for the BIG one, and two for the less-than-big one.  The code for the BIG one didn't work.  Both codes for the less-than-big one worked.  (I'll admit... I wouldn't be complaining if it had worked the other way around, though I WOULD have sent a ticket.  I'm honest to a fault with these things.) And, yes, I often do get "pairs" of emails for gift cards.  Generally, the first one works and the second one I just trash because it doesn't.  This time, things got weird.  Anyway, I tried to figure out how to explain the tangle of discounts to customer service and, in the end, just gave up, moved 3 more "still new releases" items into my cart with a gift card for the amount I'd been shorted, and then just went ahead as planned.  I don't think I've ever asked DAZ to refund me with anything except store credit before, but this time, I want my money back on my credit card.  It was a lot of money.

Now I'm just out the hour it took to detangle my cart. *sigh*

  • Check there isn't a second for the larger amount - usually two get sent for any GC, and one (usually the first) is invalidated.

There isn't. I checked spam and trash, too.

Starting from the bottom (oldest first), the orange box is the purchase with the BIG gift card.  Emails show the gift card code, then the order confirmation.  That gift card code did not work.

Pink box shows the less-than-big gift card purchase.  Two gift card codes and one order confirmation.  BOTH of these worked.  And this is why I know it's a glitch.  If I was just missing an email, one of these wouldn't have worked.

Blue box shows purchase with the amount I was shorted (so I could buy sale items and actually use them this weekend.)  One gift card code, one order confirmation.

Red box shows the purchase I made with all of the gift cards combined.

I sent a ticket.  No idea what happened.  <sarcasm> I'm just lucky, I guess... </sarcasm>

I read ALL fine print listed on the gift card page and on my cart before I purchased the "gap" GC.  Nowhere does it say they are non-refundable.

    Details

Purchase store credit for your friend or yourself with a DAZ 3D Gift Card. Store credit is not a valid payment method. Credit Card or PayPal only. Note: Gift Cards expire after one year.

If I am not given a refund ON MY CREDIT CARD for the EXACT AMOUNT I spent on the "what they shorted me" gift card, I will be contacting my bank and having the charge reversed as a fraudulent purchase.  I spent money.  I was sent a code for a gift card that I paid for.  I redeemed that code.  The difference between what I paid and what they sent was hundreds of dollars.  They cannot just decide to keep my money and give me store credit instead.  That's fraud. Hundreds of dollars of fraud. Because, regardless of what else I bought, DAZ took my money for the REALLY BIG gift card and did not give me what I paid for.  Period.  There is no gray area here.

I WILL get my money back or I WILL be contacting my bank.

That’s what customer service told me when I asked about honoring the code.

your situation is different though. Sometimes gift card codes aren’t sent so they will send the bigger one but if I were to speculate you may may have cashed the two duplicates.

  • KaribouKaribou Posts: 1,325

    Well, look at that. https://helpdaz.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/115003500163-What-is-Daz3D-s-refund-policy-

    Not refundable.

Guess I'm not looking for a refund on the card I bought to cover their screw-up.  I'm instead looking for a cash refund for the screw-up itself.  I bought a gift card.  The one they sent didn't work.  They will refund my purchase, not because changed my mind about spending it, but because they didn't actually give me what I paid for.

I'm contacting my card issuer. Now. This is crap.

  • Refunding is not the same as fixing an error, though since you seem to have two errors it may take more explanation.

Well, I certainly hope they fix this.  I spend more than enough money here for them to refund the cash they shorted me. They can refund a different purchase and then gift me with the items from it. I don't care how it gets fixed, but it needs to get fixed.

This could all be avoided if they had an actual customer service person or two monitoring things during normal business hours on the weekend.  Earlier today, I was trying to log into another 3-d site (that starts with an R) from my iPad and couldn't remember my password.  Apparently, I reached my maximum failed login attempts, because it locked my IP address out until tomorrow.  I used my phone to post to their customer service forum and they fixed it within a half hour.  And that was MY fault. I can only imagine that DAZ earns a lot of money on weekends.  The least they could do is have a live person monitoring customer support.

Not sure how you can sound sensible and calm via a forum post, but you do. I'm going to pet the kitty in your avatar image for a moment and calm down.  I've gotten so worked up over this that I haven't actually downloaded all the stuff I bought. Lol.

Gonna go play with stuff now.

My feeling is that the store has a double standard regarding gift cards. As the customer if I get a duplicate gift card, with both codes active and working, the right thing to do is let the store staff know they made a mistake and let them have the money back. The money is not ours afterall.

However the same cannot be said for the customer if they make a mistake. If they make an error, such as not putting the correct code in at checkout, despite there being a record of that code in the customer's profile, they are not allowed to get this addressed and all sales are final. To me, if that is true, than the store should be held to the same standard.

Unfortuantely, I am too honest to keep extra cash sent to me by the store. But it bothers me that they expect forbearance for their mistakes  but will not help a customer when they make a mistake.

Eep, this sounds like a huge headache - I'm sorry you're going through that. I think one thing is for certain - we shoud probably avoid buying two gift cards at the same time (maybe wait a few minutes before purchasing the second one).

I hope customer service works it out for you - I know in the past when I've had issues the customer service people have always been a huge help and always, in my experience, makes things right.

I do think in your case, if you have the receipt for the larger gift card, they will correct it. It will just take them time.

EVERY time I buy something from this site now I grind my teeth together until I see the final total I've been charged because I've been overcharged twice already. I can honestly say that I've NEVER, EVER had that happen to me on any other site nor have I seen so many sales glitches, and I buy a LOT of stuff on the internet ;).

As someone who also buys a LOT of stuff on the internet, I wholeheartedly agree that DAZ's shopping cart software is awful.  You can't properly use coupons when there are freebies in the cart.  Gift card emails are sent in duplicate so often that everyone knows you should always "try the other one."  And on a fairly regular basis, you need to dump your entire cart, log out, clear your cache, log back in, and then refill your cart before you can correctly make a purchase.  In their defense, Daz has always, always, ALWAYS resolved every glitch that the website has ever was thrown at me -- but I've never asked for cash back before, either.  That's what makes me nervous.

I feel like this might be God telling me to stop buying crap I don't need, lol.

...Now where did Richard's cat go...?

FWIW, Daz refunded the overcharges very quickly both times. I also was undercharged once and they told me to forget it even though I offered and was willing to pay. I won't argue that Daz is very quick to correct overcharge mistakes, but I would rather they not make them in the first place :P

Furry tummies are the ultimate in stress relief, especially when combined with their own little blanket and a space heater. What cuties!  I can't tell from the photo -- is that an actual dog and an actual lizard in your first photo?? If so, your cat is MUCH more chill than any of mine!!

That's a bird feeder a friend gave me when she moved out of state and didn't have room for it. With five cats at the time, it never made sense to put bird feed in it. We already had a number of squirrels who tormented the cats as it was. Anyway, within a month or two of settig the bird feeder on top of the dog house, Newman claimed it for his own. None of the other cats so much as sniffed at it!

I usually get 2 emails with codes for gift cards I purchase and am used to picking the last one for first try as that is usually the one that works.  Last time )or the time before) I got the usual 2 emails and this time neither code workec. Customer support fixed it very quickly, not sure what they didi but they made one of the codes valid, so I am suire they will fix things for you, too.

I don't have a kitteh for you to pet, but my tummy IS available for tickles ... blush

Lol!!  This is why DAZ doesn't employ customer service on weekends.  Because we have forum members who shamelessly offer up everything from their kittehs to their VERY OWN tummies when things go upside-down.

She has such beautiful eyes!  I miss having a girl kitteh!! I'm pretty sure I have fifty Amazon boxes I could frolick in, should I have a mind to do so.  I really do buy everything online!  Someday I'm going to be the crazy cat lady who never leaves the house.

We've had as many as seven, for a short time. I brought home Newman when we already had five, and about a month later, I rescued Smidgen and nursed her back to health. It's been interesting, to say the least!

What beautiful fur-babies. And the second image is spot on. And the more important the papers, the more likely they'll become bedding. I think we even had a muddy paw print on the legal papers we had to sign when we refinanced the house. But there's another thing the cats love to lay on… the TV remote! LOL

Have you tried to check your GC code again? Sometimes a code does not work immediately though it does later.

It also happens that we only get a single code for a GC and that this one works. It is very rare but it does happen...
