Constructing Scenes

I'm a new user and I'm having some problems getting the hang of scene construction. I am having trouble scaling things into scenes among other things. For example I want to put the Skyrider in a scene over a cityscape but I couldn't get it scaled correctly. Can anyone recomment a good scene construction tutorial/video on the subject?

If this might help your scaling:

With the Skyrider selected in the scene tab, go to your Parameters tab and click on General.  Reduce the percentage of Scale - this scales your object down in all three directions.
