Question about G2F skin used on G3F character
in The Commons
I have seen this mentioned in a number of posts.
Honestly, I do not understand any of it. Could someone please discuss this.
What exactly is being done, and how?
Are there any items required to accomplish this?
I should add, that I have also seen reference of V4 skins being used on other generation characters.
If there are other threads explaining this please refer me to them also.
Thanks.

There is a series of products called Legacy UVs by CaymanStudios. Some are here in the DAZ store and Legacy UVs for Genesis 3: G2F and Legacy UVs for Genesis 3: V4 are at Renderosity. They come with a script that applies goegrafts to genesis 3. After the geografts are applied, you apply the material preset of the legacy figure. After it is applied it will look weird. You then use the included script to set the UV of the surfaces to the correct figure. I use these products all the time and never seen a seam due to them.
Edit:
There is also a method described here which doesn't require any products but does make use of Blender https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/59665/tutorial-converting-textures-from-gen2-to-gen3/p1
There is also the Blacksmith3D Texture Transformer over at Renderosity.
For V3/A3/M3 etc to V4/M4 there is Texture Converter 2 available in the shop here at DAZ https://www.daz3d.com/texture-convertor-2-tc2-bundle

Thanks. That is a great help.
All depends on what you plan to do.
If you want to use V4/G2F skins, Legacy UV is enough.
If you plan to use LIE or geoshell skin effects for G3F/G8F, you must convert the textures.
I use Blacksmith Pro to convert G2 skins to G3; it takes more time/effort, but I prefer the results.
