Backlight is a specialized, light - reactive, hair shader that set that creates soft, natural looking hair in just a few clicks. Crafted to give the most natural, multi tonal combination of depth, undertone and luminosity.
Backlight requires the use of additional lighting such as overhead, rim, and back lighting.

Backlight includes 80 unique specialized shaders:
20 of each: Blonde, Auburn, Brunette and Ebony. All crafted to produce the most natural looking possible undertone and highlights.

Additionally, I've made an additional Product for this hair shader system. Which adds bonus base colours, overlay options and overlay masks.
Presenting: Alchemy for Backlight Hair Shaders for Iray
An intensive Add-on for the Backlight Iray Hair Shaders. Featuring 45 base colors, 45 overlays and 23 overlay masks. This'll be released alongside the base textures.
This looks like it will be quite useful! Looking forward to this one!
looks amazing, but I think a before / after comparision would help
Thanks!
Thanks No Nose - what exactly do you mean? Those side by sides I have displayed are the exact same lighting and rendering set ups ( nothing changed except for the hair shader) . Thats how different these shaders really are. Or do you mean applied over an existing set up like OOT or UHT?
Yes, please!!! I love all 3D hair and hair shaders. The more, the merrier! You can never have enough of either one.
I agree, one can never have enough hair shaders. This looks fabulous!
The photos above are before and afters....Look at 3,4,5,6, and 7 of the first post...
@chevybabe25
I'm really happy to see that it works with UHT/OOT etc. Also pleased that the 2nd promo showed your lighting. I hope that saves you from answering some questions, since too many users still don't seem to understand lighting/lights behavior.
Another insta-buy.
@ForbiddenWhispers
As I just added in the RealFit ring bikini thread,
Always happy to see your new stuff.
This looks like a great shader product. Can it do anything to deal with the issue that shaped spotlights used to backlight hair show the hard edges of the shape? (If you use a disc shape on the spotlight to backlight hair, the actual hard edged disc shape will appear instead of just the light effect alone, or square, or whatever shape is used.)
Thanks everyone!!
Thanks fastbike :) Lighting is so tricky.. and some people can feel fooled because they can not acheive the same look as a promotional render. So, I opted for pre packaged light sets that i find that give the nicest results and documented everything.
Sadly no it doesnt. I had to turn off a "behind the ear light" from the boss lights in one of the promos for the exact same reason.
im going to go out on a limb here and say game changer, right here!
@chevybabe25 Always love your and @ForbiddenWhispers products and your ingenuity. This looks like a very versatile set of products. :) Hope you have many sales!
you and ForbiddenWhispers want all my money ALL MY MONEY don't you care about all the other PAs?
(yes, PAs who post previews have an advantage cleaning out my wallet)
This reminds me of Hair Lustre Shaders for Iray. Can you give us some more imformation to differentiate your new one, please?
Thanks everyone!
I just went and sprung for Phil's so that I could answer this question. His are focused on translucency, and mine are much much more complex than that.
Looks great - will wait for the release, then.
@chevybabe25
The product looks great but those renders are gorgeous!
@ForbiddenWhispers
A big thank you for using my hair in some of your promos! Those look wicked! You have been busy and it is all great stuff!
I've always loved using Dimension Theory's Subsurface Workshop - SSS Shaders for Iray for the hair shaders it includes, but do find it limited and obviously you still have to set-up your lights and all to get the effect of the hair shader. I think this product is a definite upgrade to it. Can't wait for the release.
NIce, especially the compatability with UHT and OOT. Given that you're posting here and not in the DAZ PA Commercial sectionm, I'm guessing that this will hit the store in the next few days?
Thank you everyone for all the kind words. I truly appreciate it!!
Im sure Daz frowns upon anyone giving any hints at release dates.. so I plead the fifth :)
HEY, where did all your promo images go too?
They are there Ram... I think it makes them disappear when you click on an email link .. so strange
Seems so, that's just weird. Not ever happened before. Another cloud glitch I guess!
Wow, these look great. Another required tool.
BTW some of those promo images are fantasic!
wow, very nice product! How does it work with hdri? Does shader care the sourse of light?
Hey thanks!!
Thanks! These really require added scene/ spot lights.. I do not believe the dome on its own will give you much effect.
A question about Backlight Hair Shaders nd Alchemy Hair Shaders - can they be use with ANY hair, even older ones for older figures - and most of all, can they be used with male hairs too? Or are they just aimed for the female hairs included in the promo?
All hairs, with vertical UV mapping. Doesn't matter what sex the hair is used on.
