DIM Not Finding Installed Content (0 files installed) [Solved]

dlm4001dlm4001 Posts: 205

This morming, in Install Manager, I noticed in the Installed Tab, it states I have 0 files installed.  I looked up several items I know I have installed in the Ready to Download tab, and they were there. So my account is working, and it knows what I have purchased.

I downloaded one item, it appeared in the "Ready to Install" tab, and then I installed it.  DIM now states I have one item installed. I would much rather fix this than download and install year's worth of library content.

In July, I posted a thread here requesting help moving my DIM Downloads and ManaifestFiles Directory. I followed the instructions given and it worked. I am not sure this is related, but I am pretty sure everything was working normal after that.    https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/265586/dim-manifest-file-location-question#latest

SUMMARY:  DIM is not finding the information on what is installed. DIM is connecting to my account. All content is present in DAZ Studio.  My Library has not been moved.

I thought this was the manifest files.  I double checked the account.ini (and dlm4001.ini) in DIM's User Accounts folder to make sure the OverRideManifestFiles was set to the correct location. I need some help troubleshooting.

  • The default account uses account.ini in the User Accounts folder.

Thanks I double checked that I had made all changes in the account.ini file and I had, so that is not the problem.

  • Could you post a screenshot of the folder showing its path and the entry from the .ini file, just in case there's a formatting issue or something like that.

    dlm4001,

How did you download your files? Did you use Daz Studio to Install them? I had a very similar issue with getting a new computer about a month ago.

Turns out that Daz Studio and Daz Install Manager (DIM) do NOT install in the same place. I had to open a ticket up with support because I had installed a bunch of content with Daz Studio and when I opened DIM there was nothing installed, yet when I opened Daz Studio there were my files.

Where DIM will install your files in your <content_folder>, the Daz Studio path for installation is <content_folder>\data\cloud\<sku_number> and DIM does not see items installed in the cloud folder. Another way to tell which is which is in your Content Library there are two sub catagories for DAZ Studio Formats: Daz Connect and Daz Content. Daz Connect is the items Intalled with Daz Sudio and Daz Content is items installed with DIM.

This seems very counter intuitive to me, to have two seperate places to install files to. But support told me that this was by design and to only use one installer, DIM or Daz Studio, to install your files.

The fix to my issue, as I prefer to use DIM to install, was to delete items in the cloud folder, in Content DB Maintenance: Reset Database and Re-Import Meta Data.

I did use Daz Install Manager to install them and things have been working great for years. I know that Manifest File path is the issue, but, I can not figure out why.  I have the Path properly entered into the account.ini file, but if just doesn't find them.  If I move the manifest folder back to the original location, it works fine. (but I don't want it there, taking up disk space on my windows drive.)

see attach screen of DIM Path for downloads, Account.inin (overidemanifestfiles path, and file exploreser showing the manifest files location.

  • Yeah, I'm not seeing anything wrong there - though you might check that there isn't a second OverridemanifestFiles location further down in the file.

But you seem to be logged into DIM using username "dim4001" not "account" - does your dim4001.ini also have the correct override line in it?

I have been having trouble with the daz software 4.10 for the longest time.  I recently purchased $62 in content and it does not show up.  Your suppose to install Genesis Starter Essentials,  Genesis Starter Essentials 2,  Genesis Starter Essentials 3, and  Genesis Starter Essentials 8.  However, they are not following their own system of operation.  There should be a Genesis 4, 5, 6, and 7 Starter Essentials too.  To confuse things even more ... there is an Ultra Genesis 2/3, Genesis Generation X and Genesis Evolution Morph Files. They should go back to the drawing board and rewrite the whole Genesis software bundle into one package that works and not have so many genesis files under so many different names.  The only genesis that is showing up is Michael 5.  I am so very disappointed.  The smart content is not very smart.

There are no Genesis 4, 5, 6, or 7 - they jumped from 3 to 8 so that it is consistent with the named figures (Victoria 8, Michael 8, etc.). Theya re kept separate as they are large packages, so people have a choice over what to isntall. The Genesis Evolution sets are the morphs for the first Genesis. The others are third-party add-on products.

So, you have installed the various Starter Essentials but theya re not showing in Smart Content? Are you using the default paths for content?

MelanieL, Thank you, problem solved.  Your comment made me check the dlm4001.ini setting and I forgot to change OverrideManiifestFiles.  Evern leading up to my problem.

    1. I moved my download and manifestfiles folder to a different drive with more space.

    2. I changed the path to download folder in settings, and OverrideManfestfiles in account.ini

    3.  Last week. I changed my email address associated with my Daz Account

    4.  I created a new account in DIM to use the new email address.

    5. I changed the dlownload path in the DIM settings  BUT, forgot to change the OverrideManifestFiles in dlm4001.ini.   I thought I did that, but I was mistaken.

When MelanieL pointed out hat I was logged into a different acount, the light bulb came on.  THANK YOU!
