Hexagon questions

Couple of questions to keep me sane and ongoing.

1st. Are the tools in Hexagon the same as in DS? For example Smoothing. I'm asking as having problems finding startup tutorials.

2nd (Sanity bit.) I have remolded a model that I imported from Roblox and added a missing part and want to now smooth out the parts (40+).

I used Scene Tree Hide to ensure I am only working on the specific part I'm interested in and I selected the only vsible part in the Scene Tree.

I clicked on the 2 in the Smoothing Properties. I used Selection, UnSelectAll to unselect the item and now I have cracks in the item, not a smoothed surface.

What I am trying to achieve is to reduce the triangle count so I can import the complete model not its parts (done that but having problems in Roblox) but cannot import at the moment as Robloax states too many triangles. I was hoping that smoothing would reduce the count but now think it wont.

Anyone have any thoughts for me?

  • 1) If you mean SubD, Hexagon does that but I'm not sure it's identical.

    2) On the smoothing issue, make sure that the mesh is welded together not just separate polygons next to each other.
