    ...thank you.  There's talk of the gulf states possibly getting something going if that's so Amtrak will probably put it in their schedule and then the leg to Florida would work. Would love to time it out for a Space-X launch.

    Yeah that would be real cool!   But likely on a hot day.    Take tons of pics eh!    AMTrack is the only nationwide passener rail in the US now, right?

    ...yep.  There are a few small state operated lines (mostly for commuting like NJ Transit (New Jersey) Caltrain (California) and Sound Transit  (Puget Sound region of Washington) as well as a few excursion/rail museum lines, but for scheduled long distance service Amtrak is it.  Yeah I still remember the days of the Milwaukee Road, Burlington, Chicago & Northwestern, Santa Fe etc.  Used to ride on the Milwaukee Road Hiawatha and Chicago Northwestern 400s a lot.  Also rode the Super Chief between Kansas City and Chicago.
